So we can sign BG and CV vers. #2? cap space is overrated. Most of teams blow their capspace in guys like Farmar/Petro/Outlaw and then give up 1st round picks to clean their mess.

We could sign a good player or two....or use it to facilitate trades....or sit on it for later use. Cap space is multi-dimensional in how it helps aid a GM/team.

No, now you're just coming off as arrogant. You're making different assumptions. The lastest rumors are there is a fourth team being brought in to get rid Petro. I'm assuming we're not taking him or the Nets pick. So you and Piston Pete can go about giggling and pitching one sided trades and making declarative statements amongst yourselves.

Cap is @ 58 mill this year. Just an FYI.

If this trade goes down. I think it would sell the team. But I also think we won't be trading the expirings unless we get an upgrade of talent back. I want to trade them too but I don't think Gores will let Dumars.

Consistent with reports, here's a 15 player deal that ensures that the finances work (trickier than you'd think):

DEN Sends: Anthony, Billups, 2 minimum salaried vets (for now let's say they're Carter and Ely), Williams
DEN Gets: Harris, Favors, Morrow, Uzoh, Graham, Ross, '11 NJ 1st, '12 GS 1st (and maybe the '12 HOU 1st)

Harris / Lawson
Afflalo / Smith / Morrow
Forbes / Graham / Ross / Balkman
Favors / Harrington / Martin
Nene / Andersen

NJ Sends: Harris, Favors, Morrow, Uzoh, Graham, Ross, Murphy, Petro, '11 NJ 1st, '12 GS 1st, '11 LA 1st (and maybe the '12 HOU 1st)
NJ Gets: Anthony, Billups, Rip, Summers, 2 minimum guys from Denver, Williams

Billups / Farmar / Carter
Hamilton / Vujacic
Anthony / James / Summers
Humphries / Outlaw / Williams
Lopez / Ely

DET Sends: Rip, Summers
DET Gets: Murphy, Petro, '11 LA 1st

Stuckey / Bynum
Gordon / McGrady / White*
Prince / Daye / Jerebko*
Villanueva / Murphy / Maxiell
Wallace / Monroe / Wilcox / Petro

Phew...

The more I think about this, the more I really want this to happen... Badly. If we don't move Rip now, I'm not sure we'll get another chance soon. Let's take Petro, accept the late 1st, and call ourselves lucky.

Pistol, people play along with you for one fanboy trade, but they won't play along that you continue to be the GM after the imaginary trade. I don't know why that is, but it just is.

All reports are saying we wont get Petro or NJ's 1st.

Denver totally owes us after we gave them Afflalo for nothing. Billups trade got us cap space, but why did we give up on Afflalo. We are owed some karma on this one.

Just take back Petro and get this ish done! You can EASILY bury a $3M "insurance big" on the bench. You cannot bury the perennial leading scorer @ $12.5M on the bench.

Petro should NOT hold this deal up. We NEED this to move forward.

+1

Wish they could make this trade at 4am EST so I could happily go to bed. Guess I'll read about it in the morning out here on the West coast...

If Dumars can get the lakers pick I will apologise to Vege and bow down to his wisdom. Of course Rip isnt realy worth that its just that Rips agent is Melos agent and hes pulling strings. Still I didnt see that angle and I was wrong. After the offseason maybe I should have realised that players no longer are playing for money or titles. Its all about playing with your buddies.

The fact that Dumars and most everybody else wants nothing to do with Petro and his contract, should clue you in on just how bad Max's contract is and/or how difficult it will be to move (if it can be moved at all)

Both guys are awful and posess minimal actual basketball skill, but at least JP isnt undersized. And the price tag for size most generally includes a built in premium.

You know, even though we're doing this for Murphys expiring, we don't become a worse team at all.

R. Stuckey/W. Bynum
T. McGrady/B. Gordon
T. Prince/A. Daye
G. Monroe/C. Villanueva
B. Wallace/T. Murphy

I still hope we work towards a lotto pick because we needs the assets at least for a trade. But that's not a bad team, especially in the East. Maxiell/Wilcox get pushed out of the rotation, but Murphy is honestly better than both of them, both as a shooter and rebounder.

I'd rather see the guard rotation like this:
Stuck/McGrady
Gordon/Stuck

Good 3-guard rotation though
