Prediction: This latest blockbuster will blow up in their faces like the last one did and then Denver will trade 'Melo to NY. 'Melo + Harrington for Chandler, Curry, Moz, 'Buke, Mason, Randolph/1st, 2nd, $3 Million. Maybe we can pilfer 'Melo without taking Harrington, but that remains to be seen. This might be wishful thinking on my part lol

He's NOT getting a buyout because he has NO choice.

What possible motivation would the Nets have to buy him out?

What he wants is is $14m option for next year picked up. He'll take an extension of course, but he's NOT going to prefer a buy-out over the $9m he's lose next year, and again, he has no leverage to seek a buy-out.

Again, read this through the Agent-translator.

What's between a buy-out and an extension?

His option.

I think he was making a point. He wants to be in Denver. He doesnt want to uproot his family and he likes his lifestyle. If they think that bringing Billups in will solidify his stay they need to think again. He wants no part of Jersey longterm.

If the Carmelo Anthony deal, which is still not guaranteed to happen, does get completed this week, starting any of the key components in fantasy could spell disaster.
Depending on physicals, travel, weather and the number of players involved in the trade, it could cause many of the key pieces in the deal to potentially miss anywhere from one or two games. As for the trade, Melo says he doesn't think it's happening right away and he doesn't think he's played his last game for the Nuggets. However, other sources think the deal could happen today. Chris Broussard is reporting that the Nuggets don't want to complete the three-team trade with New Jersey and Denver unless Al Harrington is part of the deal.
And the Nets don't want Harrington and his four years, $28 million contract. The Nuggets have given Harrington solid minutes in the last two games, probably in an effort to showcase him, but even if Melo goes and he stays in Denver, there are no guarantees that he will suddenly become a fantasy star. He's lucky he was signed by Denver in last July, because it now appears that no one seems to want him.

.So I'm to believe Melo just wants to play with Rip & Chauncey and he'll sign? Then why don't Nuggets just trade for Rip & call it a day?

Rip, Chauncey AND Al Harrington, mind you. If he was amenable to NJ, why hasn't this trade happened already? So this is about Lopez, Avery, Proky and Jiggaman.
Ok.

Nuggets trade Al Harrington for Rip and 2 first rounders!

Problem solved!

Makes as much sense as anything coming from Denver last two days......

Dude makes too much sense. Denver can easily put a package for RIP. Plus Denver's remaining is much much better than NJ's leftovers.

Denver basically is in love with the guy and doesn't want to trade him. That's why they keeping playing games with the Nets. They're like the husband or wife who refuses to sign the final divorce papers.

They don't want to do a deal - and they've found a team desperate to do one. I want no part of this dynamic.

Going to the Nets means that Melo is settling for money, plain and simple. He also wants out of Denver. Feels he needs a change of scenery. But going to the Nets is not about winning, of course.

Seeing the amateur hour operation that is the front office of the Denver Nuggets, I can see why he wants out.

If thats true awesome, I would think it means Denver got the most leverage they think they can get out of this situation and Donnie will present their best offer and they will have to accept.

Devin Harris, who is very likely going to the Nuggets if the Carmelo Anthony deal happens in the next few days, may not end up staying in Denver for long.
The Mavericks are said to be interested in Harris, while we're guessing that other teams will be too. And given the fact George Karl seems to really like Ty Lawson, the Nuggets could be ready to officially turn the keys over to the Carloina alum. Jan. 10 - 9:34 am et

From Berger:

Among the teams the Nuggets have spoken with previously is Minnesota, which asked for one of the Nets' better first-round picks in exchange for taking Murphy. With that, the conversation died. Sources also told CBSSports.com Monday that the Nuggets have engaged with the Knicks "a little bit here and there" about what it would take to get Anthony to his preferred destination, Madison Square Garden. Executives in contact with the Nuggets said Denver plans to give the Knicks an opportunity to construct a trade proposal that they will compare to what the Nets are offering -- a prospect that seems unlikely to be fruitful for New York, given that the Nuggets have always been more interested in the Nets' assets than the Knicks'
