Horrible news. Per Twitter:

Mary Schmitt Boyer
#Cavs announce Anderson Varejao out for season with torn tendon in right leg that needs surgery

ugh this really sucks...it's not like we were going anywhere anyway, but u never wanna see the Wild Thing hurt. Hopefully now we literally get the worst record and than get the #1 pick...even if we are in the top 4, since there is no consensus #1 i believe any of the top 4 have that ROY potential

:( . No trades with Andy now, wtf. Feel bad for Andy and B Scott. Hide the sharp objects around the team for a while.

The bright side is this keeps us from doing something stupid by trading him. Hope for the best possible recovery for Andy and the team. He works so hard, this has to absolutely be killing him.

I don't see why this would have any impact on trades we might try, sinse we weren't winning anything anyway. If we thought we'd seen a lot of really ugly games already, look out now.

You hate to see any player injured and out for a season but in this case it is no great loss considering we have the worst record in the NBA with him playing. You cant really get worse than worst. I hope he recovers and comes back to resume his career though, he is a hardworking good defender.
