Easier, not so. Whether he stays in Denver or goes to NJ doesn't make the path to the finals for the East contenders any much more easier or harder. NJ still isn't in any condition to contend with Melo (and the other pieces they will have) this year.
I guess I should have made myself more clear; it makes the path easier with Melo going to NJ because that means he doesn't end up in NY with Amar'e.
On Topic -
There is a blog post on ESPN by Henry Abbot talking about why the trade, if happens, will not happen until close to February 24th. Interesting, short, read...good points, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not sure if it has been posted yet.
