You want me to debate your conclusion when I don't agree with your premise that it's clear Denver holds all the cards and Carmelo's fears of the CBA are more powerful than Denver's fear of losing its franchise player for peanuts. Both sides hold powerful cards. In fact, if Denver didn't care where Carmelo wants to extend, they would simply have traded him as a rental by now.

why would they rent him out? if melo agrees to an extension with another team, they can get a much better package in return.

That's my point. If Carmelo says he'll only extend with NY, Denver does have strong motivation to work out a deal with us. That's a significant card that Carmelo holds.

It could be not much less than as of now but idk if he would risk that.

Some reports have the owners looking to rollback ALL salaries regardless of what people are signed for now. If Melo takes the extension out of desperation and ends up someplace just for the money, and if the contracts do get rolled back, Melo's going to look stupid that he gave up on NY for cash that he wasn't going to get to keep anyway.

Stoudemire didn't want to address the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors. But when asked if he still wants to play with another superstar, Stoudemire said: "Absolutely.

Last night some reports said Melo to the Nets was basically done. Then they said it wasn't actually all that done. And we talked about it all day.

Honestly nothing happened. Just stuff to talk about because of all the tweets from the beat writers. The most important thing was the direct quotes from Melo.

PORTLAND, Ore. - The suggestion that Amar'e Stoudemire would rather not see Carmelo Anthony in a Knicks uniform is as ludicrous as the ongoing saga of Anthony's impending trade, which appears to be reaching a crescendo.

In the summer, Stoudemire talked openly about his intention to join forces with other stars, such as Anthony, in New York. At practice here Monday, he was asked if that still is the case. "No question," he said. "Absolutely."

Stoudemire would not directly address Anthony's situation. "I don't know what's going on," he said. "I just hope it works out for the best." But he didn't exactly shoot down the idea of blowing up the roster to bring in another superstar player - although at this point, with the Nets reportedly on the verge of acquiring Anthony in a three-team trade, it might be moot.

This must mean Al and Billups are getting traded without Melo.

How funny would that be?
