“It’s a combination of things,” Collins said. “There’s a ligament and some bone in there that have been damaged. And from what we’ve seen, it’s a very unique injury. It’s a form of turf toe but it’s a little more severe than that. It’s been hard to explain in layman’s terms. But because it’s in the ball of his foot, that’s a really dicey area. That’s where you do all your cutting and your jumping. And that’s where you do all of your pushing off from. That’s what’s made this all the more delicate. For me, I think hands down the guy we should take a serious look at is Chris Singleton. He's a 6-8 215 lb SF currently projected to go 13th by DX. Here's what they have to say about him:

Rather than trying to outscore opponents, it's on the defensive end where the Seminoles really make their mark. They ranked #1 in the NCAA last year in that category, according to kenpom.com, and are currently in the top 5 this season once again. This is the place where Singleton will help an NBA team the most right off the bat. Any team looking to improve on defense will be wise to give him a serious look.

With his terrific size, length, lateral quickness and intensity, Singleton puts tremendous pressure on the ball and is an absolute menace in passing lanes. He gets his team tons of extra possessions every game with his ability to collect rebounds, blocks and steals, and is the type of player who would have no problem guarding multiple positions at the NBA level —be it face-up 4's, shot-creating wings, back-to-the-basket forwards, or even switching out onto quicker guards on the perimeter (if that's how his coach elects to defend the pick-and-roll). This type of versatility makes him extremely attractive in today's NBA.

Although he clearly has his flaws, players of Singleton's nature who are capable of locking down multiple positions, rebounding out of their area and scoring in transition (off cuts to the basket and second chance opportunities on the offensive glass) are valuable assets. If Singleton can develop into a reliable spot-up shooter on top of that, he'll have a long and productive NBA career.

My reasoning should be pretty clear. With DD, Bargs and Davis/Amir, we are more or less set for starters at SG, PF and C, so the most glaring positions to fill are starting SF and PG. Our top two scorers both have solid mid-range games and can drive to and score around the basket, creating their own shots and shots for their teammates. Offensively, from a potential SF, we really only need good spot-up shooting (especially from 3pt land) and the ability to drive to the rim and finish when given wide open lanes.

Defensively, we need major help in our starting lineup. We need a guy that can lock-down multiple positions and help us on the glass. It's very hard to find a PG with the size to lockdown anything other than guards, who can also run an offense efficiently, so looking at SFs makes sense.

Singleton is billed as a guy who plays defense first, is strong on the glass and fits a off-ball shooting role on offense.

In that case P Jones or T Jones would fit that role you've just mentioned.

It would be nice to have either Kanter or Jones fall into our laps on draft night... I think either of them would fit in well on the team we have assembled now, Kanter is a big body that can provide relief for Bargnani and he's very skilled in the low post. Jones is a guy who grew up as a distributing guard then he had a massive growth spurt - he's now something like 6'8'', 240-50 lbs - he's a point forward with good ball handling, passing, and rebounding ability... if we could draft either of them, then fill the remaining SF/C spot via free agency (Jeff Green/Thaddeus Young/Perkins/Gasol), we could have a pretty good young up-and-coming team. With the Miami pick, if Nolan Smith drops to us it would be huge - he could be an excellent back-up PG for years to come... realistically we could well have a future team of:

Bayless/Smith
DeRozan/Weems
Jones or Green/Kleiza
Bargnani/Davis/Dorsey
Gasol or Perkins or Kanter/Johnson/Alabi

Our defense would be dramatically improved and we'd be a young skillful team.

Maybe looking a little ahead here, but nbadraft.net now has Doc Rivers' son Austin ranked as the projected #1 pick in their 2012 mock. Definitely looks like he's going to be an exciting player. Funny how they have his comparison as Stephen Curry. I know someone recently had a thread mentioning that websites seem to do nba comparisons based on how similar the players look physically lol. He does kind of remind me of Curry, but with a mix of Derek Rose's skill-set.

i am hoping we take either Brandon Knight or Harrison Barnes falls to us at our current position. I think Perry Jones, Terrence Jones, Irving (for sure), Walker all go before we pick (again at our current position). If we draft Knight wed have a pretty exciting team

He's a very special talent, I can see this guy avg. 20 + or a top 5 in scoring category in the league, if we get him somehow, that means Demar will be shifted to SF ? He reminds me of Eric Gordon with good dribbling skills.

I really like the talent of next year's freshman class... Drummond (if he's able to reclassify), Rivers, Q. Miller, Kabongo, and Gilchrist are all players with legit star potential. Aside from Kyrie (mayyybe the two Jones' as well), I think I'd take one of those guys over anyone in this draft. I'd love to be able to trade our pick for a probable high lotto pick next year (especially if it looks like some of the better players will stay in school).
