CP3 will have one good knee by 2012

Melo will still be a great scorer

Lopez will still be a pathetic rebounder that can't protect the paint

nobody is scared of them. Looks good on paper, but in action, they will fall short.

There is too much smoke here for there not to be fire -- Melo clearly will accept the extension in NJ.

This one is boring and idiotic too, and it's over.

Melo is trading away his soul for money so he'll pay a price for that.

They can't keep Lopez and still have cap room for CP3.

Just about to post this. Lopez is gonna run 5 yrs/$65 million at the very minimum.

Lopez is up for an extension after next season. They can't keep Lopez and get Paul. And Lopez is pretty overrated anyway.

It's disgusting how unethical these sports agents are. Instead of advancing Melo's primary interest (ie. wanting to go to NY), they're commingling the interests of their other clients (getting Rip or CP3 out of their respective franchises) and trying to convince Melo to settle on NJ. They probably have other financial self-interested motives in ensuring Melo gets his extension as well.

I mean it's pretty clear that in this whole situation, Leon Rose is not "representing" Melo as a fiduciary agent would. I mean no surprise, these agents representing multiple clients have serious conflicts of interest.

I'm sick of Leon Rose and the whole CAA agency.

Really, truely, honestly hoping that some of their clients suffer career ending injuries. LeBron to top the list, Melo, if he goes to NJ and Chris Paul for being a punk ass follower of LeBron.

The Nuggets angered the other teams involved in the trade by insisting at the last minute that Al Harrington be included in the deal. That required the recruitment of a fourth team, something that has been unsuccessful so far. On the bright side for the Nets, sources tell ESPN they are convinced Anthony will sign a three-year, $65 million extension with them if a trade can be agreed upon. The Nets have laid out a plan to Anthony that involves Chris Paul joining him in the summer of 2012. The bottom line is that the Nets can still offer the Nuggets the best package, but a deal of this magnitude is going to take some time. Jan. 11 - 11:29 am et

I assume Melo and his agents have some class that they would tell Denver...Stop negotiating with NJ, im not going there, it's NY or i'll walk if he wasn't willing to sign the extension.

Since we haven't heard anything like that yet it makes me assume that once a trade is agreed upon, Melo WILL sign an extension with NJ.

Yup, unless they are able to make some other deals to clear more space. The Nuggets will still have Hamilton, Outlaw, and Farmar on the books for around $24 million, then add Melo to that, as well as Lopez's cap hold. There isn't enough left to give a max contract to CP3, especially considering that all of that money is tied up in only 5 guys.

I'm curious what "plan" they were able to lay out to Melo. It is contingent on a lot of things going right for them.

Don't worry. Douchebag teams always line up to bail out NJ out of bad contracts.

Like Detroit with balls on their chin for Petro.

Meanwhile, Curry's contract is like 80% paid, is expiring to the tune of 15 million and there isn't a single peep of a taker.

WTF, why don't the Knicks try to get in on getting RIP to satisfy Melo. It's not like the team doesnt' have a crying need for a SG.

Question: How is that not blatantly tampering?

Didn't you know it is Ivan's plan to buy The NO Hornets from the NBA, so you can loot them to build his Dream Team in The Swamp. He has compromising Pictures of Stern and other NBA officials with some Russian Prostitutes, and will use them to Blackmail the NBA, into helping him build his Empire in the NBA.

If you think about this....it's like a girl trying to get a guy jealous by flirting with another guy, is it not?

This is getting incresingly bizare. I didn't think it could get more bizare, but it shall, once Melo refuses to sign the extension with NJ.

If I am the Den. Owner/ GM, why would they do all this to potentially look foolish? From everything I hear about them, they are very sharp guys-- they must believe Melo will sign the extension with NJ.

at the very least, when this is all over, ujiri and kroenke are going to look very unprofessional with the way they've handled this. how many times now have we read about denver getting greedy and trying to make a last minute change to the deal, and then the other teams get pissed? i can imagine other GMs want nothing to do with them in the future.

if melo is about winning as much as he is about getting paid then we'll be fine imo.

It's ironic that we hate on Lebron but in this instance hope Melo follows his lead by defying his handlers and hanger-ons' opinion on what he should do concerning his career. Remember, no one but Lebron wanted or expected him to really go to Miami. He gave up a lot in money and reputation to do what his heart of hearts wanted. I hope Melo has a little Lebron in him. Flame away.

Really? Nah. When dealing with the lowest common denominator, never underestimate the stupidity of idiots or the self-destructive powers of as$holes. This is long from over.

I am (unfortunately) starting to believe this as well. Perhaps they have sold him on an aging Billups and Hamilton being a good enough supporting cast for now (it's not, by the way), and then the prospect of getting CP3 two seasons from now. If he makes this decision, he's either an idiot, or really only cares about the money and being good enough to make the playoffs (not this year though), but not really contend.

Either way, that will tell me all I need to know about him. If he agrees to extend with NJ, then he's not a player I want on this team anyway.
