The Cubs claimed Max Ramirez from the Red Sox and added him to the 40-man roster.
I LOVE this move. Ramirez is a former top prospect from Texas, part of the Rangers trio of catching studs (with Saltalamacchia and Teagarden) who never panned out. He'll be 26 throughout the entire 2011 season.
His defense behind the plate is shaky, so he may be a 1B/DH/C hybrid, maybe like Jake Fox with more catching skills. He put up some great numbers in the minors so the bat has upside. Considering we added him for nothing, it's a fantastic move by Hendry.

I remember when I first heard Texas was trying to trade Salty, then Teagarden...that's when I first heard this name. Salty and Teagarden were big prospects back then, so this guy had to have some upside to warrant a trade of two very highly regarded prospects.
