See this is what I think Melo meant when he said
(a) he doesnt think a deal is happening soon
(b) he wants to wait until he has a meeting with masai and ujiri
I honestly think Melo is down for signing in NJ, but only if that means that they'll still have the pieces to surround him and be a contending team. If Melo catches wind of a deal that wont allow NJN to get Paul or completely guts them, then Melo will say no to ujiri and masai.
If Melo was desperate to jump ship and get that $$s he already wouldve demanded a trade.
Instead, he wants to see all the offers on teh table for him to get his extension AND win.
He wants both imo.
And at the end, i think thats why hes kept saying he wants to wait and meet with the nuggets (he said it over the summer too) and why he wants his options open.
