While Heat fans will point to Miller and Haslem missing games, it's clear those guys aren't nearly as important to their teams and KG and Perkins or Noah and Boozer.

Actually, out of those 22 games, Miami has played 8 games against teams with winning records, not 7. They went 7-1 in those 8 games.

I knew they'd get it together at some point. Wade and LeBron are just too good. But after the 9-8 start, I was holding out hope it would take them at least another year. Looks like that was wishful thinking.

Having the two best players in the NBA scoring the basketball for your team does not really constitute as a "clown offense".

In fact I'd argue with a bit more fine tuning and continued improvement James and Wade could turn even the most stifiling D into "Clown Defense"....

PS, putting the word clown in front of things is rad.

Their defense is legit credited to erik spoelstra, but i'm not respecting that clown offense even if they are a top offense. Its a Cleveland and miami heat offense of last season merging together. Lebron and Wade take turns holding the ball, deciding what they want to do with it as the shotclock is being burn. Sorry, buts that not organized basketball....

Leading NBA standings in early January is not a big deal.

Schematically, what makes it a "clown offense"? Please, break it down and go into detail...

They use a ton of P&R's... is that "clown offense" to you?

maybe he's talking about how Wade and Lebron release on almost all the opponents shots hit or miss....My AAU team used to do that a lot back in the day but that is only 1 aspect though :dontknow:

So, it is your impression that Miami basically only runs Iso plays for both Wade and Bron?

Have you watched the Heat this year?

I would agree that our offense was a joke over the first few games of the season, but with Wade shaking the rust off and all the guys getting used to each other it's gotten a lot better.

Also helping us in this run are little things like more 2/3 P&Rs between Wade and LeBron, and better movement off the ball from those guys (who have to fight their strange desire to camp out at the 3-point line while the other handles the ball).

Still not the prettiest offense in the league, but by the standards of Pat Riley's "Heat culture" over the last 15 years this is the closest we've ever been to Showtime.

Yes... before the season they were predicted to win the East by many...

But the thread isnt talking about is it a surprise that they are in 1st. It is asking if you are surprised that they were able to get into 1st by early January after starting the season off 9-8. You'd have to agree that you didnt think they'd claim the top spot in the East so quickly after that 9-8 start, no?

Or were you predicting a 21-1 run when they were 9-8?

Cause the Cavaliers had Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh too, right? It's exactly the same thing I agree.

Yes I am surprised that they are able to get to 1st after being 9-8. It's extremely impressive. Particularly their transition game. Wade and Lebron are terrifying in transition. I dunno why they didn't just do that from the beginning.

Lebron's still a douche ;)

Remember the good old days (weeks ago) when everyone was saying:

Christmas day will be THE benchmark for Miami!!!! Let's see how they fare against a REAL TEAM like the Lake show....!!!

Good times.

Yea its quite clear you stopped watching the heat after the 9-8 start, we all admit Heat were playing Cleveland ball before but since then everyone has been moving, Wade has thrived off the ball like Heat fans and some others said he would, Bosh moves well to get open for his mid range shots and found his niche/role which he was pretty clueless in the first 17 games. When Wade is handling the ball, LeBron has cut a lot more than you'd see watching Cleveland.Another thing is they haven't been shooting as many dumb shots like they did, and have been going back to driving and drawing fouls at a higher clip.
