Jose Bautista

Post#1 » by flatjacket1 » Tue Dec 28, 2010 6:06 am

This forum seems quite slow at the moment... time for discussion!

Is anybody surprised that there are no rumors about AA shopping Bautista? His philosophy this whole time has been buy low, sell high and Bautista isn't hitting 54 next season?

Should we trade him? Does it make more sense for us to keep him or see if we can get a Justin Upton and prospects?

BTW whats the deal with his contract? Is he going to Alb this year? Team option? Extension? Nobody even mentioned him since the off season started.

I think that if we were to trade him then it would of been before last seasons deadline. Upton isn't going anywhere, the Arizona GM was just testing the waters.

On one hand it makes sense to trade him for a Rasmus type, so that our players are all the same age when we compete. On the other hand, AA needs to get fans out to the Rogers centre, and keep up the Jays hype, so he has the money he wants to spend in a year or two, so that suggests he will keep Bautista.

Why all this trade high talk about Jose? ... No he probably wont hit 54 home runs .. you know why? .. Well he was the only one who hit 54 HR what about all the other guys that have ever hit 50 and didnt.. You think the Yanks looking to Trade Arod? ... Guys He is a good hitter and you wont get in return for him what we want and to get picks for a solid player who has not been given a spring training to prove himself yet is silly.

Stick with the good and stop trying to fix what is not broken. If Wells, Hill, Lind, Snider, Jose can all have good years at the plate like they have shown in previous years, Snider still has to break out we are a pretty good team. Are pitching is young and solid and with run support we make are pitching staff more incline to win games.

Hill wont be traded nor will Jose, or AA has no clue what he is doing. I am tired of rebuilding with unproven players. "Potential" does not win games it wins the confidence of the hopeful fans, those dont get you in the playoffs.

Your whole post is just wrong...

Fans didn't show up last season to see the show Bautista was putting on --- so what makes you think they'll turn up this year?

And the Jays haven't gone into rebuild mode since JP took over almost a decade ago...

AA seems to have a solid plan for future success...and I, for one, couldn't be happier

I'd be shocked if Bautista didn't peak as a player last season...so why shouldn't the GM buy low and sell high?

Any guesses on what his FMV is after this year if a) poor year b) 20-25 HR / 80 RBI c) anything above 30 HR/ 100 RBI? I've read $8M being bantered about but not sure where that's coming from...

Now where your wrong is fans come to watch a winning successful team not a single player, but a TEAM that is doing well is made up of MULTIPLE players doing WELL! Baseball is not a sport were one individual players talents can be led into playoff Glory, wrong sport. So keeping Jose is a part of building a good team. Do you plan on being the Tampa Bay Rays from a few years ago because I dont see us coming even close to having the young talent, speed and hitting they did because they were one hell of a team.

Also where your wrong again is if we are not rebuilding why buy low sell high for what prospects? Wait for them to become what Jose was but a little younger..not likely waiting for young players to pan out, that means Rebuilding no? .. Taking steps backwards?... We are too caught up trying to get players that maybe good and need to stick to keeping and working with players that are PROVEN to be GOOD. If Jose hits 35hr drops 100 rbi next year still great numbers I honestly think he will probably still knock 40. I take that over a young rookie who may not hit those numbers for a few years. Those are numbers Wells is putting up making 100+ million. We could pay Jose 10mill a year and he is still a steal! Me wrong? .. Didnt think so. I am sure all of our fans want to win now and with the Yanks and Sox spending their way to to wins, we wont get any closer by trying to "cheap" out because we are selling high. You may feel that AA has a good plan and he does, because he has not traded A Hill or Jose that is a part of his good mastermind plan.
