Was it Michael Kay that was vehemently arguing with his listeners about the Knicks capspace over the summer? I remember listening to that and it being hilarious at how little a sports talk host knew about other sports outside of baseball.
RIP Jared Jeffries. Gone but never forgotten...2006-2012

Here's a link to the podcast of the Mac and Tierney show from this afternoon. Chris Broussard comes on around the 12 minute mark.

Michael Kay is a noob.

Did he really just say fork up our roster for Melo?

Melo is def a top 5 player in todays league but do you really kill your roster for a guy like that? Especially when all you need is a few more pieces to compete with a LAL, MIA, SAS, BOS, ETC?

Cmon MK!!!

Mr. Micheal Kay is going on about how the Knicks need to blow up the roster to get Melo..............HELL NO! how Many superstars Did the Spurs have to win a championship? 1 Duncan. How many superstars did the Pistons have to win a championship? NONE! how many did the Lakers have 1 Kobe, im talking the last past 3 years. How many Boston have All stars in Peirce and Garnet good player in Allen and can't for get all star in Rondo beside Miami where are the teams with 2 superstars? there are not that many superstars in the game today. Teams are built with a superstar, a All
star and good role players. now he is talking about the draft picks that the Nets have....lol guess what NO draft picks are Guaranteed.

I think Melo is way overrated. If he was so good, why have the Nuggets never gotten to the Western Conference Finals with him? What's the farthest Denver's been in the playoffs with Melo? Say what you will about LeBron, but put him on a team with Nene, a semi healthy K Mart, Chauncey, Ty Lawson, Chris Andersen, and JR Smith, and he'll take them to the NBA Finals at least.

The Knicks should forget about him. Focus on what they have, and lock in on Gasol, Tyson Chandler, or Dwight Howard.

It's clearly not the we donthave the assets it's that we are not willing to use them all for one guy

Is our record at this time really that much different than the nugs despite our new team and the fact that we haD a very slow start?

**Edit** actually we have a superior record to the nuggets right now. Isn't that interesting?

Obviously it's not the lack of assets, it's the emotional response to the denver gm, who is 30 apparently, to having his hand forced by the player he thought was goi to be the face of the franchise and a team that knows it can sit out and wait either way. I don't blame him. If the roles were revered I'd say to hell with Carmelo and the Knicks but it's not gonna make any difference anyway. Either Carmelo comes or we use that cap space too further improve this squad with available bigs and guards

I agree.. I said this before and I still feel that the nuggets feel some resentment towards the knicks and would rather let melo walk thandeal with the knicks it seems.. On ESPN radio a week ago, word around the league was that most GM's didn't feel that favors was a future star type player and the fact that avery johnson has to work on motivating this kid is somewhat of a red flag... The knicks have a lot of pieces, but denver doesn't want to deal with NY, with melo trying to force his their hands and deal him to NY, I am sure they don't want to acquiesce, not under those circumstances...

Heard Broussard on BT & Jody and the one question that Broussard raised but didn't really have an answer for is why are Carmelo's people (CAA and Leon Rose) pushing him towards NJ over NY when it's clear their client wants NY. If all the reports are true, and the Nets are hearing that Melo is on board from everyone in Melo's camp with the exception of Melo, then you gotta wonder why this is so. Same thing I was wondering when World Wide Wes was reportedly pushing Lebron towards Chicago over NY when we just finished paying WWW to watch Curry eat during the previous summer.
It doesn't make sense. It's not like Melo coming here would be less money for them. And it's not like they couldn't maneuver Paul here as well when his contract is up. Thoughts?

Dude, the key is to NOT listen to Kay. He's a complete moron when it comes to any and everything Knick related. He got me twice by hyping some "major exclusive breaking news pertaining to the Knicks" and each time it was something any Knick fan on this board would know. BT and Jody (and maybe Evan Roberts) are the guys to listen to for solid Knicks talk.

I love how now Melo can be convinced to play for the Nets but everything about the Nets franchise is the same EXACT reason why Melo is trying to get out of Denver

Brook Lopez, Chauncy Billups, Rip Hamilton and Jay Z are now enough for him to want to accept an extension with NJ?

Lets see, Melo has patiently waited for 4-5 months while maintaining one main goal, get himself on a contending team, but hes going to just all of a sudden decide "f*ck that, Im going to NJ to spend my prime years"

Are people seriously buying this shyt? You guys think hes that stupid? That hes just going to throw away the rest of his career in NJ because he doesnt have the patience to wait another 6 months?

Lets see, if Im Melo, what do I do?

1) Allow my current team to screw me in the a** and convince me to sign an extension in NJ just because they dont want to do me a favor and send me to the team I want to go to

2) Just wait 6 more months and leave on my own terms, go where I want and tell the Nuggets to go f*ck themselves

What would Melo do? Hmmmmm

Melo and Stoudemire would form a potentially formidable duo on a team geared for their talents and who, already is one of the better teams in the NBA in the same conference as their prized clients (and isn't LBJ not only a client but a partner in it?). The Nets OTOH is already a terrible team that will be gutted to make room for Melo (who essentially would be exiled into Siberia...pardon the apparently obvious allegory) if dealt there. So...killing the competition?

Very interesting this! Agents driving the whole thing right now with their own interests at the forefront? Hmm.

Ujiri looks like a punk amateur to me. He totally mishandled Chris Bosh and he seems to be very unprofessional in jerking NJ around. If Nets did not appear so desperate they might not be so laughable. Who can take the Russian seriously? Gut your team and future for a wing scorer? If I was Nets I would tell Denver last chance take it or leave it..... and walk away and start negotiating for different players.... Where does that leave Denver? Looking like the fool....

How can Nets seriously offer all that knowing that there is no one who will come close to what they are offering? Pure desperation. The whole thing is a mishandled farce.

What evidence do we have that we can no longer trade AR for a pick? Last we heard, Donnie said he could get one.

Or are you implying that AR's value has dropped too far, because of the way he's played?

You gotta actually play to be worth anything to another team. No team in their right mind would give Donnie a first rounder for AR.

Broussard is once again, selling misinformation. This reminds me so much when Broussard was convinced Lebron was going to Chicago.

The deal to NJ is so dumb. It makes absolutely no sense for either party.
