ITGM wrote:Deciphering the Melo Code

Carmelo Anthony doesn't feel a trade to the Nets is imminent.

"That's my feeling. I don't think so. I don't want to elaborate on that anymore. That's just my own personal feeling," Anthony said Monday.

Response Deciphered:

"WHO?"

"I'm not signing a damn thing with them, end of discussion"

Asked if he would sign his three-year, $65 million extension to facilitate a trade to New Jersey, Anthony said: "I really don't know."

"I'm waiting to see Masai and Josh, wherever they at," he added, referring to Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri and president Josh Kroenke.

"Pretty sure they're working on whatever they're working on right now. They haven't been here. I'm waiting patiently until they get back so I can sit down with them."

Response Deciphered:

Asked if he would sign his three-year, $65 million extension to facilitate a trade to New Jersey, Anthony said: "Denver has warned me not to mess with the process so I am forced to give you an ambiguous answer."

"All this talk about I'm willing to sign an extension with those clowns is B.S, I haven't even spoken to anyone in my own organization since I told them I won't sign with anyone but NY."

"Everything your hearing is coming directly from Ujiri and Kroenke, I have not been involved in any talks. I told them who I want to sign with, whatever they do from there is out of my control."

Anthony was then asked about his rumored preference of playing for the Knicks.

"I'm here," he said. "Until something happens, I'm a Denver Nugget."

Via Associated Press

"Im here right?..... and I have refused to sign an extension. put 2 and 2 together MtherFker. I'm waiting to become a Knick, but until then I'll keep spoon feeding you the line my PR rep told me to continue to say....... I'm a Denver Nugget."

Excellent post! I agree 100%

ITGM, didn't you do a Lebron code, too? Not hating or anything. Just wondering.

Again not reading much into it. Just find it very interesting.

No, it's interesting for sure. And I still suspect that she's Sheridan's source.

One league source told ESPN.com that acquiring Derrick Favors and Batum is the "grand slam" that Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri would like to hit, but he remains handcuffed by Anthony's preference for a trade to the New York Knicks. As I reported last month, Anthony has made it known to the Nuggets that if he is traded, he will not sign his $65 million contract extension with any team other than New York. The source said Anthony has steadfastly maintained that stance in his recent discussions with Nuggets officials, despite the Nets being told that Anthony would sign the extension with them if he is traded to New Jersey.

Another league source said Knicks officials were perturbed to hear that Anthony was being told they were "dragging their heels" in their efforts to acquire Anthony. (Which could lend some sort of an explanation to the origins behind the latter part of this quote from Anthony after practice Monday in Denver): "Who wouldn't want to play in New York?" Anthony said. "I told you that last year. I think that's how all this stuff started, by me making that comment. New York is playing well right now. I don't think they're looking at me, they don't want me to come in here and mess what they have up. That's what I've read."

Sounds like Anthony might as well all believe NOT want to goto Newark.

He makes everyone on that squad better everyone isn't Nash with assists and Melo has pretty good assist totals for a true forward so...check
How many times has Melo been clutch? Is that a trick question he can take the game over with the best of them he even embarrassed LBJ last year when they went head to head...check
Has he proved it in the playoffs..my dude look up his playoff stats and you tell me! so by YOUR list he is a franchise player!!

1. The offense has never, not once been run through Melo. It was run through Miller, Iverson, then Billups. Melo has never ran the offense. He is the lead scorer, not lead playmaker.

2. Melo makes no one better. Cmon man. The best you can say is that he draws defensive attention, but he does not actively make anyone better.

3. Yes, Melo is clutch.

4. He has not proved it in the playoffs, since he has gotten out of the first round once.

So he meets one of the three.

Right, remember how confident Broussard was with that little girl signing with Miami....CSherridan offers the same level of confidence.

I agree. You don' say such definitive things like that unless you have one hell of a source.

Denver is screwing itself here, and is going to end up with nothing but a terrible, terrible reputation from a players point of view. NY wasn't offering garbage, and NY is willing to go and get what Denver wants.

I am a FIRM beliver in that Melo wants to be here, and that his scumbag agent is polluting this whole situation. Stay strong Melo.

I pride myself on being as impartial as I can be, but if Denver says that Batum is better than anything on the Knicks then it's proof to me that they simply do not want to deal with NY cause Batum is not better than anything the Knicks have.

for what it's worth, there was a report about a month ago that Philadelphia rejected an Iggy 4 prybilla/batum offer made by the trailblazers

Good to hear. Apparently Philly also wasn't thrilled with Batum. :D

If Sheridan is right:

Leon Rose is trying to bring a done deal to Melo and hope he signs off.

LaLa and Melo are thinking Knicks only but Leon is hoping to get them to cave and thinks he can. And Melo won't rein him in -- letting him and the Nuggets do their thing and then will make up his mind.

Seems like the simplest, best explanation IF Sheridan is right.

I honestly think she may be or someone just as close is too. I just don't think Chris Sheridan would put his reputation on the line like that without having a "close to home" source.

Broussard was a bitch throughout the whole Lebron process. The **** flip-flopped fifteen-thousand times throughout the summer. Stephen A. was the only guy who was steadfast.

did rich bucher really recover from his comment in that kobe has played his last game in LAL?

I would think reporters would be hesitant to say something strong like sheridan w/out being in the loop

whatever the case, i think knicks need to use sheridan more to continue to keep the pressure up ( ie, willing to take salary, have pick lined up, etc) just so that melo knows they are trying and as long as he knows that he will put off other trade options imo
