Denver is handling this whole thing horribly. No free agent will ever sign there again after seeing how they treat their players. Trying to trade a hometown guy finishing up his career to the Nets. Dangling a star player around and not even engaging the Knicks in trade talks out of spite (they know he wants to go there).

Exactly right. I'd go one step further and say that Amar'e, while awesome, isn't awesome enough to carry a franchise to championships without sharing the spotlight with another strong superstar-type.

They'd make a great duo IMO, better than CP3/Melo, that's for sure.

Chris Tomasson: Nuggets inquired and were rebuffed on trading Melo to Clippers in summer 2009 for Blake Griffin Clippers sure wouldn't have any interest now now

I wrote about this in another thread. This is right on the money. When Billups agent came out and said his desire was to remain a Nugget and then after his career stay within the Nugget organization geez, talk about ripping fans heart out. I mean, this is different when Ewing was traded because it was time, and he wanted to go if the organization wanted him to go. Billups is still better than anything they will have (and he will be dealt just to be potentially bought out). It makes no sense, other than a salary dump. The classy thing to do would be to let Billups finish out his contract there.

If the Nets are so absolutely confident that Melo will sign there, why are they bothering to release this photo?

Sheridan's confidence is looking ... somewhat interesting or convincing ... again.

While the Rockets don't have a franchise talent like New Jersey's Derrick Favors, they can offer cap relief in the expiring contract of Yao Ming ($17.7 million), Shane Battier ($7.4 million) and Jared Jeffries ($6.9 million), as well young talent like leading scorer Kevin Martin or Aaron Brooks, the NBA's 2009-10 Most Improved Player. Houston also has the right to swap draft picks with the Knicks in 2011 and it owns New York's pick outright in 2012.

I think there's almost no chance that Houston will get Melo to extend.

I just joined Twitter finally, checking Sherridans tweets on a daily basis motivated me to check into other Knick players and stuff, and other reporters like Hahn, Broussard, etc.

Return to New York Knicks
