Pretty sure Artest was actually hit by Wall on that play, not either Booker or Seraphin. Wall got a clean block up top, but came down with an elbow to the skull.

The best play of the night was a pick Seraphin set about 30ft out from the basket that crumbled whichever PG the lakers had trying to check Wall. Wall drove and scored, came back thanking Seraphin. Was nice to see, both the execution of the pick and the gratitude from Wall.

Beef bros indeed

last chalk talk before the 2nd PHL game Ted related an anecdote
about the Beef Bros that went something like this:

Ruland's Mom on LI-NY could get the BOS radio feed at home
so was able to, but did not appreciate, hearing Johnny Most's
depiction of the 2 as McFilthy and McNasty. J Ruland apparently
told Most before a game that his Mom said she would kick his
ass if she heard that. Most went ahead and continued to use
it, but did preface the reference by saying, "mrs Ruland, you're
not going to like this...' At least that's how I remember Ted
telling the story.

most encouraging thing was seeing Booker hit a jumpshot.
I just hope that that doesn't lead to a ton of bricks down the road.

+1 on Beef Brothers > Bash Brothers. Beef Bros is historically significant to this franchise. The Bash Brothers were the roided-up Oakland A's of the late 80's.

From the box score it looks like they made a respectable showing. And they kept Yi on the bench for all but 5 minutes :)

Well Seraphin got 9 rebounds in 15 minutes which is off the charts. Specially against LA
Booker got 9 in 34 minutes which is solid.

Seraphin missed a least 1 easy close shot that I know he can make from seeing him in practice.

Yi was out because he hurt his knee but he actually looked really good setting picks and hustling before that happened. I know people hate on Yi but I think this was bad timing as he looked like he was doing what we needed from him. 2 rebounds in 5 minutes and active.

But it is what it is. Take the good. Seraphin and Booker are power players and we need to get them minutes. Now we can. Every game seems to be a new adventure this year.

Next up. NJ.

I know Dray will play if they let him. Question is, will they hold him back or not.

Does anybody else look at Booker and think of Charles Oakley?

Both muscular, under-tall, hustling power forwards without much offensive skill (though Oakley hit that midrange J consistently). Physically, they look like similar body types and they both have a physical style of play.

Obviously, Booker has a lot to learn in terms of position defense but a Charles Oakley type dirty work starter (knows where to be, can finish the easy plays, knows his limitations, plays his ass off) seems like a good role for him to grow into.

Meh, Oakley was floorbound. Booker has springs for legs.

Also keep in mind that Booker actually did score in college. I don't think he has found his offense niche just yet but 4-7 last game wasnt, 4-6 vs PHX and 7-9 vs LA the time before doesn't suck. Oaklely is probably a good comparison. Keep in mind, Oak added a decent shot and 3 range eventually to compliment his tough inside presence.

Problem is this team is missing a few vet type productive players that would lesson the focus on the younger roll players it has. Get Howard back and add another star quality SF and this roster looks a hell of of lot better.

Kind of like reorganizing a room. You still have some things that need moved around, a pick or two that need tossed out and a piece that is missing. Doesn't make everything you have worthless but your not getting to see of the value without of them without the other stuff being finished.

Booker and Seraphin are both limited offensively, and still struggle to grasp Saunders's system, but they compensate for their lack of skill and knowledge with hustle and hard play.

No bash brothers against the Nets.

Sad but true.

Do you know what Seraphin's teammates call him? "Big Slow" Kevin is raw and lost out-there. I know that we gave him assurances that he would not play in the D-league, but I think the org should seriously consider sending Kevin to play full-time with Dakota, this year and part of next.

RE: Booker, I would try and trade him, he's a hustle-tweener w/o an offensive game. This team needs a banging PF in the worst way. I'd sign Jeff Adrien who is NBA ready to a couple of 10-days...possibly bring back Singleton. Any thoughts on the " Bash Brohers"?

If i were coaches, i would make it mandatory that Booker do full sprint Dribble--sprint and stop after every three bounces the entire way down the court non stop until he can dribble without fumbling the ball with his off hand using a below the knee bounce at least 20 times before every practice with his right hand. i highly doubt the organization has that much discipline with these project players to make them reach their potential.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

I'm more disappointed with Booker than Seraphin. I knew Seraphin was raw as hell from day one, but Booker is much older and still can't get on the floor. It's frustrating that he can't beat out Yi for minutes. Yi, who is hands down, one of the worst basketball players in the league. Booker's offensive game outside of 5 feet is just wretched. He makes Dominic McGuire look like Tracy McGrady.
