Despite corroboration of @carmeloanthony's hesitation about NJ, #Nuggets/#Nets continue working on deal, sources tell @CBSSports.

Can somebody please explain to me how two parties can "work" on this deal for so long? There is no way they haven't gone through all plausible scenarios at this point. There is a snag and it's not a secret...Melo doesn't want to go there.

Prokorov is a persistent dude. He won't give up till Melo says no himself.

But wait a tic...didn't they say one more peep about this and Melo will be traded to the Knicks?
Lol. I'm just ready for this to be over with either way. He's holding up everything just like Lebron held up free agency this past summer.

I no longer would be too disappointed to lose Gallo. I think Gallo is going to be a good NBA player and he's a talent, has guts, and plays the right way, with swag and the desire to take big shots. But it's hard to see how we would miss him terribly if we are able to retain Wilson too.

Unless Gallo can develop a post-up game, I don't think he'll be great. His ability to finish some dunks and draw fouls, and all that size, make him a very good prospect. But dealing him for Melo is a no-brainer.

Yeah man. I've come around on that as well. The main reason I wouldn't want to trade Gallo at this point is because I'd feel so bad for him. He clearly doesn't want to go. That's gonna suck...but you do what you gotta do. Gallo is an NBA baller and I'm not so I should refrain from feeling too bad.

the original story is that Gil hinted that soemone else big was going to change his number to 9 soon too. some reporter asked gil why he changed his number when he got traded to orland

the blogger connected all the dots that it could be melo that gil is referring to because of what #s are retired for the knicks & melo's current number

Relentlessly pathetic is how I'd describe this. But you can't blame them for hoping they can try to lead the horse to water. I mean, it *could* still work if Melo's agent and the Nets can scare Melo into caving.

And now ESPN.com is reporting that it’s still the case today. Melo was asked today if there’s a scenario in which he’d not end up on the Nets – and he was quite coy, saying, “I don’t know. I can't wait for this game against the heat. I believe after the game, it will solidify (if it isn't already) Melo's stance on coming to NY. He will realize there is no chance in hell he can beat them without playing with another superstar.

Next to Amare, the guy on the team that really wants us to get Melo has gotta be Felton. Can you imagine how easy and fun it's going to be for him to have those two guys racing up court on a fast break? And he'll be looking at an ever bigger contract in 2012 because his numbers are going to go through the roof.

Melo, finish this game tonight and then speak up. Tell these idiots you're not going to New Jersey so we can get this thing underway. We can try to knock off the Heatles THIS year in the playoffs. Would be a thing of beauty.

I think it's in our best interest for Melo to score 30+ and for the Heat to smack down the Nuggets. Both of these things, I think, are very possible.
