From Hoopshype - Dwight Howard
As much as Howard enjoys being marketed in Orlando, sources say he thinks he can do even better by moving to L.A., which has a history of getting the big stars, whether it was Wilt Chamberlain late in his career, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his seventh NBA season, or Shaq in his fifth NBA season.
Wow...But not surprising. Given the opportunity who wouldn't want to be in warm weather, stardom etc. I've only been to LA once; the mistake I made was staying in Burbank so everything was a cab ride (chalk that up to inexperience). Being from Boston it kills me to say this but what a fabulous city.

Nice story but I doubt it happens, media outlets write stories like this just to see an over reaction to fans in LA. Especially with message boards being accessed by the writers themselves, no reason to get excited about an impossible situation that won't happen.

Yeah this is just to rile up the media, then to have it quickly squashed by D12 hitting up twitter. I highly doubt he's thinking about us right now not with the way he's current team is playing, plus if he were to force his way west it would be two years and there's a lot of basketball to be played (not counting on a lockout) and who knows next season the magic could win it all which would kill all of these rumors...although thats not likely. And unless we get a young star by then, I doubt he'd want to join a team whose best player is a 34-35 yr old with literally one knee.

Aw ya. If we had cap room, lottery picks. Young players to trade. Then this story would not have both feet in the grave. Lakers are a old team looking to win right now and make one or two last pushes for Kobe to get more rings. After that. I would say it might be a fire sale to get new players on this team. 2014-15 might be a whole new look for the Lakers. So any super star center will not be in LA. Win now and hope the future is not like the 1990's when the Lakers did not win a thing.

Re: From Hoopshype - Dwight Howard
only way this happens is if:
1. dwight demands a trade to the lakers
2. dwight straight up tells the magic hes leaving the following season, so orlando can trade him for some decent assets like bynum instead of just letting him walk to a different team.

Bynum is light years ahead of Howard offensively. Tonight Bynum looked fantastic.

Prisoner of the moment. And not this again, if you have a choice between Bynum and Howard you take Howard easily, stop it.

I am and have always been a big Bynum fan but I think it would be foolish to pick Bynum over Howard if you have a choice between the two. I doubt we ever even have a choice between the two. Like others before me said this is just the media trying to stir things up.

Dwight to LA...again
Be different, Dwight Howard.
Separate yourself from the petulant pack.
Show the world you are not just another self-absorbed athlete stuck in a 24-7 cycle of me-me-me.
Tell ESPN to find programming somewhere else. You don't need your own stinkin' show to tell us where you want to bounce basketballs.
Avoid the Melo-Drama and stay with the Orlando Magic for the rest of your career.
The Orlando Magic haven't done a thing to betray their relationship with you and show their commitment is 100 percent. They've upgraded their roster over the years, bringing in Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu. When the team came up a few games short of winning an NBA title in 2009, the Magic let go of Turkoglu and brought in Vince Carter. And when that lineup failed, the Magic recently blew things up again, dumping Carter and Lewis, brought back Hedo, and adding Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Earl Clark.
The Magic are rolling now with the new/old guys. There is promise and potential now. Taking out the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics and anybody else is very much a possibility during the playoffs.
Trying to win championships is all about evolving, changes pieces — important ones, complementary ones — here and there. The Magic have always been about that, Dwight. It's not been about saving money. It's always been about taking risks and having the courage and hindsight to kill one plan if another one doesn't work.
They have been loyal to you. You should be loyal to them.
There are more rumblings again, this one about a possible move to the Los Angeles when your free-agency kicks in July 2012. You're supposed to be smitten by a major market.
Hopefully that's not true Dwight. How lame and predictable. Kobe Bryant will be 34 by then. He's already beat up and past his prime.

It would appear that even throughout their 9 game win streak they are still concerned with him eventually ending up in the Purple and Gold. Funny. Bill Plaschke went on Around The Horn and embarrassed himself as usual stating that "Not going to happen. The Lakers wont have enough money to sign him, they'll be building around Andrew Bynum" Blackistone was like LOLWTF, now I'm just rambling but Plaschke is awfully painful to watch being an LA fan.

Re: Dwight to LA...again
hahhaa - if d12 wants to come to LA then so be it... as long as he doesn't make a big mess like lebron did....
love it how gdiaz said kobe will be 34 and past his prime... hahaha a banged up kobe can still produce decent numbers at 34.... he might not put up 30-40 a night but add d12 to the mix with gasol, odom and artest we would be unstoppable!!

We don't currently have the money to sign him. He isn't coming to LA unless we trade Bynum and Odom and take on a **** contract.

Which is exactly my point. If we can get Howard, there's no need for Bynum. Or do you think Bynum is our future after Kobe retires?

They're two years early to worry about Dwight pulling a Shaq.
