LAL Players Salaries

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Wed Jan 12, 2011 9:21 am

I wanted to take a peek at our ledger and see our options, I haven't looked at it in a while. I'm not to excited honestly.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_lakers.htm

Outlook BEYOND this season...

Artest (6.5M): Not sure, I think that's wrong on Artest. He has a players option and then a guaranteed year after, that can't be right. We got him for at least two more years.

Shanny (2M) & Barnes (1M): Will probably both bolt at the end of the year, Shanny's proved his worth. I'm sure both can get more elsewhere. Shanny can pull 4-5 M elsewhere I bet.

Ratliff & Smith: Gone

Ebanks: for another year.

Caracter: Team Option. Probably will stay.

Blake (4M): Stuck with him for 3 more years. Honestly I expected more from him. He always killed us, but he's more of a facilitator here.

DFish (3.5M): Probably here for 2 more years :(.

Walton: Here for 2 more years

LO,Pau,Kobe, Bynum: All locked up long time ;). Now these four I love, the rest, not real excited about the outlook, you guys?

We may lose Barnes & Shanny, we'd be a bunch of tortoise's here, geez. We gotta get this last trophy before Steroids & HGH in MIA OR Durantula take over.

Phil's gone, and so is everything else. They get extra plush amenities because the Lakers win year after year, but that changes when Phil goes. I don't see them paying the luxury tax for guys like Shanny with PJAx gone either. Who knows man. It's getting me pissed looking at the future with these older D Fish, Walton, Blake, Artest love you long time contracts, we gotta get that trophy this year.

I think you were expecting too much from Steve Blake, he's a vast improvement over Farmar and i love what he's brought to our team.

I'm not sure vast even covers it. Farmar was a huge joke to put it kindly. Blake I would trust starting with a mostly healthy Kobe/Bynum, Pau, and mostly mentally healthy Ron in the playoffs while Farmar made me cringe anytime he walked over to the scorers table.

I actually never liked how ridiculously large Kobe's contract was. He will not be worth 30 million in two seasons.

hoopshype sucks, use sham's site:

http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages ... lakers.jsp

artest has 2 more yrs for sure and probably 3 since i doubt he'll be using his ETO for the 13/14 season.

bynum is actually only "locked" up for one more yr, 11/12. the lakers will have a big decision after that as to whether they want to pay him 16mil, let him go, or try to work out a long term deal. the new CBA, the team's position, and bynum's injuries are going to be huge factors.

kinda the same for LO, he only has one more yr "locked up". after that most of his salary is unguaranteed for the final yr of his contract, so depending on the same factors that the lakers use to determine bynum's worth, the lakers could choose to waive him, use him as a trade chip since his contract is mostly unguaranteed, or just let him play out his contract.

The thing is, when he came to the Lakers, he had to really take a step back with what he could do. He's splitting minutes with Fisher, and aside from that, he can't just reign in the offense like he was free to do with Washington, Milwaukee, Portland or Clippers. He can't just start finding his own shot and taking over, because that isn't how the Lakers offense works. I still think he'll get better for us, personally.

Shanny-give him Sasha deal, 3yrs 15mill I think more then fair

other additions- 4 2nd rders for 2011 draft, we can do ALOT with that, either trade up for the guy we want or simply find a euro to stash over there for a few years, maybe we get lucky and find another Marc Gasol, given Mitch track record I say there is a fair chance of that happening

Caracter-dont think he'll be here next year
Ebanks-hopefully will phase out Walton, even if Barnes is gone I'm hopeful he can replace him somewhat

Barnes and Shannon aren't for sure going to opt out they may both decide to keep their current contracts because if the uncertainty of the CBA talks. If they both opt out I expect Shannon back because the Lakers dont want to lose one last 2 or 3 young athletic players. Barnes can be replaced with guys like Battier out there next summer. I personally would want Barnes back also because he seems to be a great fit for this team.

I think his playoffs performance this year will indicate his contract worth. The guy will probably either remain a Laker, or start somewhere else. I don't think he'd want to sit the bench on an inferior team.

We should be able to grab a solid guard with one of those picks.

Then grab McGhee from PItt with the last one and hope he can translate into an NBA defender.

I seem to have forgotten how to read, yeah we got Memphis 2nd rounder in this past draft. Thanks :)
Are you sure we don't get NJ's second rounder?

Thats what I'm thinking. We should go after Illinois PG Demetri McCamey, seeing as we apparently have GSW 2nd rounder we're going to need to trade up a bit for him, but with some development he could be a Deron-esque PG.

yes, here's is a quote from the details "the Los Angeles Lakers have acquired forward Joe Smith from the New Jersey Nets in a three-team trade, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. New Jersey will also send the Lakers Golden State’s second round draft choice in 2011 and Chicago’s second round draft choice in 2012. The Lakers will also receive the draft rights to Sergei Lishouk from Houston, as well as a trade exception. In return, New Jersey will receive guard Sasha Vujacic and a protected 2011 first round draft pick from the Lakers. New Jersey will receive a protected 2012 first round draft pick from Houston, while the Rockets will receive guard Terrence Williams from New Jersey."

I am not sure why you are liking Pau, Kobe, and Bynum's contracts. Those are the three contracts that are killing the team cap right now. Kobe is not going to be worth 24-28 mil in the next three years, Pau will also be vastly overpaid if he continues to struggle, and Bynum was never worth 14 mil/year in the first place. I think we still have another two year window for contention so I am not too worried about the payroll. Besides, Mitch seem to know how to do salary dumps so the payroll should be well managed.

Thanks for the clarification. Man this Seregi Lishouk fellow is 28?

I was referring to them being locked up rather than the figure.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
