The Vent Line
I left my stove on last night, woke up at 6:15a and smelled something burning - thank god the pot was just white on the bottom. I was lucky , but realized, i spend too much time watching sports and need to pay attention more.
I decided to post my vents today
1st let me say that I am currently listening to Miami sports radio I switch back and forth each morning between 790 the ticket and wqam. It’s 9:45am now. Most of the callers and announcers are talking about how they feel Lebron should not have “backtracked on his twitter statement” They also have said, “the reason this heat took off, was the main reason is because of Dwayne Wade”
Last but not least, they basically say that Lebron needs to just shut up already (wonder where I heard that from). You may not like the messenger(s), but don’t disregard the message.
Last nights game against the clippers was a perfect example of some of the things that will be mentioned.
Anyway, here are my vents(in no particular order).
1. This organization has a “one voice” mentally, there is nothing wrong with that, until you stop listening to other opinions about what needs ot be done.
2. I do not believe we can win a championship with Eric Spoelstra, I just do not think he has to right tools to get us a win in a difficult situations (last nights game is an example) - We lost by 6 points, james jones had 3 shot attempts, mike miller had 0 shot attempts - these are our shooters.
3. We put too much emphasis on “team defense” while we are/were considered to have one of the best defenses in the NBA, last night’s game proved that the team concept left too many wide open shots for the clippers. we seam to always be running out to the perimeter to contest a shot.
4. We don’t allow other players to get involved in the offense. Last nights game saw players I’ve never heard of get more shot attempts than players that are better known on this team.
5. Our scoring is not balanced enough - The clippers and most other teams have more balanced scoring.
6. Our shooters do not have enough shot attempts, then we get pissed when they don’t make the few attempts we give them. last night james jones had 3 shot attempts, Mike miller had 0, Lebron had 27.
7. On change of possessions after an opponent scores, we take too much time deciding who will inbound the ball. the clippers last night had Blake Griffin bring the ball up. we don’t take advantage of opportunities. We rely on status quo (player a must always take the ball out, etc.)
8. We allow our opponents to set up their offense, only putting full court press on defense on a limited basis and use.
9. We don’t play to the flow of the game. What was the purpose of Wade and Bosh coming out of the game when we got the lead form 12 down to 3?
10. We pass up too many open shots, we pass too much. i understand you swing the ball to get a batter opportunity, it seams we are just swinging the ball just to make sure the play is ran correctly.
I have had enough, I will drastically cut down or stop my complaining in the individual threads, this is not fun anymore.
Let me leave on this note.
I remember when Lebron, Wade and Bosh got drafted. Of course we would have picked Lebron or Melo, rumors were we wanted Bosh(got to have that low post presence to run our preexisting plays) - but I remember all the hype Lebron has gotten in his career and how Wade had to earn his respect. He was the first one to get the Championship while Lebron was the face of the NBA.
Now, they are on the same team, and people are still quoting Lebron first, shoving the mikes in his face like he is THE MIAMI heat. I hear it all morning with the “lebron watch/moment” All the while Wade just goes out there and does his job.
Again, i am glad to have him on this team, but I would ride or die(not exactly) by Dwayne Wade, he impacts the game more, has a more versatile game and I feel safe when he’s in the game. Sometimes I think I see a look in wades like, “can you help me out a little bit, can you not settle for jumpers all he time”
I swear if Lebrons jumper is off, he is not as effective, he is just not that creative of an offensive player and I think the reliance on him so much on offense, is fools’ gold at this time.
mods, do what you want with this thread, if others want to vent, this may be a good place. If not, just delete.
Have a great day fellas, go heat

Dude, we're 30-10. There really shouldn't be much need for venting.

I know we are 30-10 - If you do not have a vent, then just move on - If you have the ability to delete it, just delete it. I am just sharing my thoughts - your comment is duly noted

Didn't we have one of those up during the 07/08 campaign? I wasn't posting here during that time, just reading but I'm sure we had a similar thread. So dude, relax. I know we have issues and they annoy me too, but as Heat3 said, it's not time to panic when we're 30-10.

Re: The Vent Line
Dude a loss was bound to come sooner or later, we won 21 of our last 22 before last night's game.
The two losses in the last 23 games have been lost by a total of 7, while the differential of our wins is the best in the league.
Only problem I have with the heat is their lackadaisic first half's, they need to blow out teams early, and sustain it rather than coast through a half and try and score 15 straight and end up winning the game because it won't always result in a win even against lower tier teams as we last night against the Clippers.

By you expressing your opinion about what you dislike - "Only problem I have with the heat is their lackadaisic first half's" is exactly what my intent was. To have one place where 1 can vent, simple

Re: The Vent Line
For all the people talking about "we're 30-10"
Look we all know that we are going to brush through the regular season..hell Cleveland did it in 2 yrs straight..........................whats the problem?
IN THE PLAYOFFS, Things get exposed in 7 game series, I remeber last yr..THE SAME EXACT THING we were pissed about during the season happened in the playoffs against the Celtics...the same thing the yr before that against the Hawks.
The excuse was..."Summer of 2010 when Eric gets talent" well he has it.
Now there is a difference between TALENT CARRYING COACHES...and the COACHES MAXAMIZING HIS TALENT TO THE FULLEST. Now I will give it alot more time but so far, I'm inclined to believe that Wade and Lebron is just that good but I will reserve my judgement.
Regardless if these things in his post aren't addressed...we'll see them in the playoffs and when the Celtics or Magic bounce us out, everybody will be looking crazy.
One of his comments I will identify with is, I'm willing to ride with Wade as uno numeral until the wheels fall off...I trust him more..I trust playoff Wade to not let us lose.
To the OP...awesome post dude I can identify with it all the way.

So we should play more like the 13-24 Clippers?

ok, I get what your intent was. this should be a sticky type thread. it just seemed kind of weird that the Heat have been beasting for a month and a half and after one loss on the west coast a vent thread pops up.

No but it's nothing wrong with addressing issues that you know a team like the Celtics and Magic or Lakers or maybe even the Spurs can exploit.
Nobody cares that we lost to the Clippers, they suck......and we're going to breeze through the regular season...
I have questions about whether Eric can out coach someone in a 7 game series.
And right now, I'm not sure and neither is anybody else if they're being honest.

I woke up this morning disappointed about our play last night and wanted to vent. I thought to myself, what if we had a vent page where posters can express there feelings about each game/topic/heat interest, etc..
I read through my comments from last night and thought that it may sound a little overactive, so i decided this morning while listening to sports radio to create this thread.
I think this could be helpful for people to vent about games PLAYED and games to be played.

Lebron has never won a championship can he win one? Has Bosh ever been out of the first round? There's only one way we're gonna find out...
The game plan hasn't been the problem matching opponents intensity has.

if we would have played like the clippers last night (offensively) we would have won. No we don't need to play like them every night, but last night we needed 7 points to win the game. The only thing our coach could comment on was our "defense" of course if we could have made more stops, etc. that would have helped. But in last nights game our defense was not working, they exploited it, we needed 7 points(offense) to win the game

Overall, I agree with both WD and you. I've been talking about the same issues for a while now, but we're halfway into the season and thus I'm willing to give Spoelstra time. I've seen him learn here and there, so I have tiny hopes that he might be able to come through once the playoffs are there. I don't have a lot of faith in him, but let's no doubt him before we aren't around 60 to 70 games into the season and still haven't seen any changes.

We are all fans, some of us go to the games, some of us don't - some of us tape all games, some of us don't - some of us read stats or are stats masters, some of us just watch players tendencies - but we're all fans, big fans.
Something can always be learned from positive dialog whether we agree or not. It's all good, got the DVD set up for tonights game
