Back to what this thread is about, Don't care about Simmons or his love fest for Griffin.

What a complete and utter SHOCKER. No deal is going down unless 'Melo gives the go ahead.

for all intents and purposes, that deal is dead as far as I'm concerned. "Dormant" is just a nice way of saying the deal isn't dead as Melo hasn't made his refusal to sign the extension with Jersey public yet. Just a matter of time.

Funny thing is he's a front running Clippers fan. Dude flip-slops between them and Boston like a dime trick. He got married moved out to L.A. and jumped on the bandwagon until Boston made the trade for K.G. he was slobbin hard on the Clippers when they made the playoffs in 2005-2006 season. I don't see how anyone takes him seriously.

Nah man, he's a Celtics fan who no longer lives in Boston. I was the same way with the Giants when I lived in Buffalo, the Bills became my adopted second team, I was a fan, but not the absolutely like I was for the Giants. Given that the two teams barely ever play I don't see a problem with it. He watches them and roots for them, but isn't a diehard fan.

Ok besides his love for Blake Griffin and the Clippers, he still brings up good points as to why going to the Nets would be a big mistake.

Anyway I predict there will be "huge" Carmelo news tonight after the game against Miami.

Deal is most likely about to die. Too many outlets are confirming that this thing is falling apart by the second.

Denver has a few options.

Trade to a West Coast team as rent. They get talent back and get to watch Melo burn them.

Trade to Knicks. Minimal talent back. Donnie will not fork over anything that will hurt this club. Give him credit. This guy is not ISIAH.

Play the season out and shed roster with other deals that don't involve Melo. They should start rebuilding now and get rid of big contracts in exchange for picks.

Sorry Nugget fans. I don't blame that team or organization a bit though. They built a good squad around Melo but can't get over that hump. The west is just too damn tough.

People take him seriously because he knows basketball.

He's nothing more than a Pop Culture writer who grew up on the same vintage basketball era most did and is telling stories about his experiences. Namely about he and his Dad yada yada when we were at the Garden blah blah. Mix mentions of Slaughterhouse and how there's a connection with Larry Bird, he's cool.....make mention of Heath Ledger overdosing and how Lebron's Decision parallels it, he's cool. He hasn't proven he knows anymore about the game than any other writer really he's simply more popular than most.

This is the same guy who last year had joke after joke after joke after joke after joke on us passing on Jennings but turn the page this year new story us and Melo..... he co-signs.... he's cool

Why after tyonight? Just because that bozo Lebron is playing and there is more media hype. Don't get me wrong. I HOPE YOUR RIGHT. But I don't know, this seems like it will continue to run it's course taking longer than sooner.

Maybe I'm reaching for the moon here but if Melo hasn't figured it out by now, he will realize tonight that if he goes to the Nets he will only get knocked out by the heat every year in the first round as an 8th seed. He will then finally tell the Nets to fu*k off and everything will be back to square one.

Imma be mad if we end up giving up Randolph plus 2 of the 3 (fields/chandler/Gallo)

Randolph is still a good young player, he has value and is only 21 years old. His career is not over. Id much rather go after a FA in the Summer like Gasol then have to give up our entire core. I'd be ok with trading Randolph and either Gallo or Chandler but not both. Make them take douglas instead.

this is what's gonna happen.
AR is gonna get a chance to play in minn,
he's gonna look fantastic after a while,
all the people who wanted him to play will say "see!"
and all the idiots who say he he sucks are gonna say, "let it go. he didn't show that here. yada yadad yadada"
as its usual.

This is a real intresting game to bet on. The line is even. This is a late game 10:30 game so I don't think any trade will happen at 1:30-2:00 in the morning, or before or during the game.

15% or 5% or whatever is pretty much telling them to screw off. I think it's just a distant backup option at this point. Or have we heard anything new that suggests otherwise?

Looking at it from denvers point of view, if they truly do not like our package of Gallo, 1st pick from AR trade (which i think is lottery protected from Min?) and curry (which in their point of view is a pretty lowball offer for their franchise player) wouldn't they just hold out til the end of the season to see if there are other offers. They can always revisit our trade at the end of the season, there's no incentive for them to do this trade before the deadline. At the very least theyd get a TPE and the 1st round pick, which for them is fine because they don't care for gallo, and would probably not extend him next season for the money he'd want. This is all assuming that Melo is going to want that extension rather than walk away and take his chances with the new CBA.

That would be the best case scenario for us but they pretty much let it be known that they are going to trade him by the deadline. How can they explain to there fans that they let there franchise player walk for a TPE and 1st round pick?

The only way Carmelo gets traded after the deadline for anything of value is if accepts the final year of his offer, and then Denver trades him.

Note, we wouldn't have Curry's deal to send back. So we'd have to send enough salary back to make it fit under the cap (Gallo would work). This scenario seems highly unlikely.
