Alright, pop quiz time. Name the highest scoring backcourt in the NBA since December 27, 2010.

A few tandems instantly come to mind – Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis in Golden State, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in San Antonio, Steve Nash and Vince Carter in Phoenix, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher in Los Angeles, Dwyane Wade and whoever in Miami are all good starts.

But you’d be wrong in all of these cases.

Since Larry Brown stepped down as head coach of the Bobcats and Paul Silas took on the interim tag, Charlotte’s backcourt of D.J. Augustin and Stephen Jackson have been lighting up the scoreboard. Their combined 44.5 points per game average is tops in the league – without a close second. Wade an Carlos Arroyo are No. 2, six points behind at 38.5 strictly due to Wade’s 31.9 points per game during this stretch.

First in scoring and 7th in assists.

individual stats are easy to pick out during a stretch of the season. just go to yahoo game logs and copy into excel. i made a template for post and pre brown for individuals. not as easy for team stats for a stretch of games. who wants to be a hero and do some team stats under silas?

Here's a stat for you. I have gone to sleep after the last 8 games. I have drifted off to sleep comfortably and peacefully after 6 of them. Tossing and turning after only 2 games. And that is priceless. My stat for the day.

I still think our players benefit from what Larry tought them especially on defensive end. But he needed to go to let them actually use it.

I don't think I know of any place that I could get advanced stat splits from after LB left. I was hoping to find a thread somewhere where someone broke down the stuff right when he left, so I could compare it to where we are now and extrapolate out what our stats are under Silas, but I don't know if that actually exists.

It's obvious that as a team we're improved offensively... but surprisingly enough since LB left we've also moved up a few places in the defensive efficiency ratings as well. That might be a blip given how sorry our schedule has been lately, but we'll see. From what I recall our stats being, our turnovers have improved somewhat, though not as much as you might imagine. We are, however, rebounding a little better I think.

I like stats, but not enough to go manually average everybody's first 28 vs. last 8. After a couple of weeks those last 3 games in December will be relatively insignificant and we can just do 2010 vs. 2011 stats.

I was going over team stats the other day, and i did notice we're top 5-6 in the league in rebounding percentage, 7th in differential. Noticed we've crept a spot or 3 in defense. We're still at the top in committing turnovers, 2nd i think, i don't know how much that's improved under Silas.

They showed a graphic on NBA TV this morning that suggests our team turn overs are down 2.5 a game under Silas compared to playing under Brown.

That's a massive difference, especially considering we have more possessions a game too.
