Why would Denver allow the Nets to rack up wins? They want a higher draft pick.

If that was the Case why would they Trade Carmelo to the Nets? More wins...

Huh? The only reason the Nets are aggressively going after 'Melo is because they want to go to Brooklyn with a superstar. You know how bad they would look if they allowed him to go to the Knicks? The only reason Denver is trying to trade him to the Nets is because of the plethora of draft picks and young talent they are receiving. This has nothing to do with winning.

Either they still think they can get more value for him or they are still delusional thinking they can resign Melo.

Denver knows that even if melo walks we'll need to renounce some of our key players to get him this offseason. So they could probably use that to their advantage to get pieces from us. Either way we're gonna lose some players to get Melo and denver knows this. Denver also wouldn't want chandler because he's an RFA whos gonna want big money at the end of this season which goes against what theyre trying to do. Hes also said he doesnt want to go there. So in denvers POV its let melo walk and we lose chandler this offseason (unless we make other cap saving moves) or play hard ball to get landry fields along with curry + gallo and pick. Of course i just made up that trade but the point is they know they still have some leverage in the situation.

Even if the Pistons are preparing for a trade, which does not seem like it's the case in this situation, it still doesn't matter. Them protecting Rip for a trade -- or holding him out -- is kind of insignificant in the grand scheme of this. The question boils down to Melo's mindset which I doubt Denver knows for sure. They have some idea though.

Denver may or may not force Melo to either sign or not sign the extension by agreeing to the trade with NJ first. They will call his bluff if they really want the Nets deal and they think he might blink.

If they think he WON'T blink, then they may gamble on NOT trying to call his bluff because that would only strengthen the Knicks' position more. They may never get that trade to the point where Melo can reject it, because that drives the Knicks' price down further. Keeping that trade "alive" will keep the Knicks' price higher, theoretically.

Calculated risks by Denver here. Chess.

Im sorry but I don't trade 2 out of 3 of Gallo, Fields and Chandler. They have Afflalo anyway whose a starter at 2g and a 35 mpg player, they dont need Fields. Gallo and 2 1st rounders is my final offer, I hope Donnie stands firm with that. I have faith he will, Donnie knows how to play the game.
Trust but verify.

I agree with you 100% that Donnie should not give up 2 out of Gallo, Fields, and Chandler, but from Denver's perspective, there is no reason for them to say "that's ok, we don't need Fields". On their side, they want to get as much value back as possible.

lol, FanHouse had this headline ... it doesn't quite mean what it seems to mean, after you read the article, but it ends up sounding pretty funny, as if the trade could fall through BECAUSE of what he saw from Favors:

George Karl Watches Derrick Favors, Thinks Trade Could Fall Through

Since I want the Nets to finally get this deal done, I'm kinda happy about this idiocy all around the league that keeps hyping up their offer. But man, it kinda annoys the crap out of me too.

Favors, a project big from a very bad draft that can't get minutes from Humphries, two Draft Picks in a Draft that looks pretty grim so far. From a talent stand point the package NY could (but hopefully doesn't) offer simply blows the Nets out of the water. It isn't even close.

It's kinda nice flying under the radar like that, but somehow it's also an itch you badly wanna scratch.

Now he thinks the deal can fall through? lol at this point I'm starting to believe Denver is only dealing with the Nets so it doesn't seem like they got bullied to their fanbase.

What offer are you basing that on -- what offer from NYK are you measuring?

Also, are Nets offering two picks in this coming draft? Didn't know that. Thought it was one in this draft and one in 2013.

Finally, I think the Nugz are hoping to parlay a lottery pick and Harris into Batum, but of course that will depend on whether Blazers see this draft as weak as many do.

lol @ wojina starting to sweat

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... ture011311

But I agree on his sentiments about CAA and WWW. Those dudes are bad for the league and need to get banned.

As happened with LeBron James’(notes) inner-circle last summer, there’s a growing tension within Anthony’s camp over the agendas of the agents. Rose and Wesley – the famous Worldwide Wes – have pushed for the Nuggets to make a deal with the Nets. Wesley is a close associate of Nets minority owner, Jay-Z, and everyone believes he wants a further entrée into the lair of Russian billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov. Within the league, they all get it: Wes wants access to Prokhorov’s empire, wants to get the coaches he reps hired in Jersey and get full access to the franchise.

PS: Expect Brook Lopez to want out of NJ in the near future

My understanding was they were offering their (probably) top 5 pick plus the Lakers Pick they got for taking Vujacic (which is practically a second rounder with guaranteed contract), but I may be wrong about that.

I'm taking two out of three from Gallo/Wilson/Landry + the Randolph 1st rounder that's supposedly out there EVERY DAY over that NJ offer. Every day. They are all still so young and proven at NBA level + so much upside.
It absolutely baffles me that the Nugget's aren't even talking to Donnie, trying to get that offer from him.

Knicks Trade: Eddy Curry, Danilo Gallinari OR Landry Fields, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas, Kelenna Azubuike, 2011 First Round Pick, 2013 First Round Pick (we can trade those because we are getting the Lakers' 2012 first round pick in this trade), 2011 NYK 2nd, 2011 BOS 2nd, and 2 GSW 2nds
Knicks Receive: Carmelo Anthony, Steve Blake, Sebastian Telfair

Nuggets Trade: Carmelo Anthony
Nuggets Receive: Eddy Curry, Danilo Gallinari OR Landry Fields, 2011 Knicks First Round Pick, 2011 Jazz First Round Pick, 2011 (Protected) Grizzlies First Round Pick, 2013 Knicks First Round Pick

Lakers Trade:
Steve Blake, 2012 First Round Pick
Lakers Receive: Toney Douglas, Kelenna Azubuike, GSW 2nd Rounder

Wolves Trade:
Sebastian Telfair, Jazz 2011 First Round Pick, Grizzlies 2011 (Heavily Protected) First Round Pick
Wolves Receive: Anthony Randolph, 2011 Knicks 2nd Round Pick, 2011 Boston 2nd Round Pick, GSW 2nd Round Pick

Knicks do it because they get Melo. Nuff said.

Nuggets do it because they get 4 first round picks, a young prospect in Gallo OR Fields

Lakers do it because they have liked Toney Douglas for a while and he could be a very good combo guard off the bench for them. He's a good defender, can score in bunches, and can play a little point as well. The 2012 pick they give up is worthless to them. In fact, the Knicks were able to get TD in the first place because the Lakers sold us the 29th pick (which turned out to be TD). :)

Wolves do it because they like AR. They give up a worthless Telfair but also trade a late first round pick and a heavily protected first as well.

I'm ready. Bring on the hate. :o

Knicks could roll with this lineup next season:

Felton/Blake
Melo/Fields/Walker
Chandler/Williams/Walker
Amare/Turiaf
Dalembert (MLE)/Turiaf/Mozgov

He doesn't know what to want -- now that he hears CAA wants Melo in NJ, he is calling it a bad deal for Melo. lol.

And suddenly he's pro-Knick, a little. The quality of his writing (technically) is good and he's pretty bright, but I have no idea what he thinks EXCEPT that he hates WWW and associates.

i read a couple of days ago [sorry dont have a link] that part of the reason donnie doesnt want to go all out for a trade for melo is because he doesnt want to give WWW, Rose & CAA that much power over our franchise and make them think they run sh*t.. damn i wish i remembered where i read it at.. but there were so many articles coming out at one time..
