LeBron almost certainly arranged to join Bosh and Wade on the Heat but he seemed to waver at the end. Rose made sure that he didnt change.

In this present case, Rose & Wesley are using their influence & misinformation to both Melo and the public in order to keep Melo away from NYK. They are getting away with it because Stern is looking the other way.

But just from a basketball standpoint it makes no sense. No amount of influence should be able to counteract common sense. As many has said ,Melo needs to shut those clowns down.

Completely agree. If its about the money then CA is better off staying in Denver and signing the extension. Going to New Jersey to sign the same extension is madness considering that he'd be going to a far worse team that would have no draft picks and has zero history of attracting marquee free agents. Even worse being in such close proxmity to where he really wants to be would eat him alive. Every day, after a loss, he'd open up the newspaper and read about the Knicks and vent about what could have been. He'd be miserable and in 2 years there would be hell to pay from any anyone in his orbit who counseled this as a good move.

In the end I have to believe that someone close to Carmelo will remind him of one of the fundamentals of life. Money does not buy happiness. NEVER allow money to dictate a decision because if you're not happy the money won't matter. Make a decision that makes you happy and if you work hard the money will follow.

You think Anthony Randolph and Toney Douglas for Mayo could work?

So would Nuggets prefer Mayo and a pick over Favors and their picks?

It's really a closer call than people like to make, and it'll suddenly become very close in Denver's eyes if Melo says nyet to the Nyets

Think about this if you're Melo for a second. If the Knicks can give up a credible package for him and Denver just somewhat prefers the Nets offer, then why on earth would you cave if you're Melo and go with their "somewhat" preference over his strong preference?

Everybody ... *everybody* ... knows that Melo strongly prefers the Knicks ... that means the Knicks' offer only needs to be within striking distance and if Melo holds his ground, he'll be a Knick.

Logic tells you that the Nuggets will take an offer they like over losing Melo for nothing, even if it isn't the somewhat better offer they somewhat prefer.

It's simple.

Yup exactly, if Walsh can work something with Memph and Minn, then get Denver in, it could get done pretty quickly. I also think Mayo is a better player than Favors, Mayo in his first 2 yrs in the league put up 18 ppg if i recally... wats favors doin??

Well GONY pointed outed that just because his agents are doing their thing , it doesn't mean Melo is some gullible pawn that is all ears to their whims. My guess is that he'd rather come to NYC sooner than later, so it makes sense that he keeps the pressure on NY to make a deal with Denver. But he knows the thought of going to Jersey is absurd. His agents are still clowns though.

I agree, strategically this leak works for the Knicks as it sends an unmistakable message to CA that Denver will have options if he holds fast and rejects the Nets deal.

Denver and NJ can't be happy about this leak as it just may give CA a reason to throw a wrench into their plans.

I've never taken any side but the Knicks in the Melo-Drama

I called a long time ago that Melo would be a Knick - even when there were Chicago rumors for a short time. Those rumors ended with Noah's extension.

Well, now I may end up being wrong since I was unaware that major agents would deliberately work hard against the Knicks acquiring him.

What is surprising is that their activity is now common knowledge & nothing is being done by the league.

the nets picks are going to be better then ours, that's for sure. the way i think we make an equal offer is by taking al back. i think saving money is of primary concern to ownership. in the nets deal they get harris who while valuable needs to be paid and they're still stuck with al.

As for Marc Gasol, I'm told there is zero chance Grizzlies let him go. Plan is to match any offer sheets. Not real option for Knicks.

Maybe that's why we are suddenly hearing the Knicks are making a push for 'Melo

Yeah, Al's contract is looking like a poison pill. Who swallows it. IMO, the Knicks would be able to digest it easier than the Nets as they already have a playoff core that Anthony would walk into. The Nets would have swallow Al & Rip Hamilton's contracts and that kills any fantasy they had of getting Chris Paul in 2012. Without the ability to attract Paul or another FA Carmelo would be in NJ with an aging Billups, a C who averages under 6 boards a game, a SG who's seen better days and who has 30+ million in untradeable salary and Al.

Blueprint to disaster.
