Source familiar with Grizzlies says OJ Mayo is "way, way, way available". Knicks looking to put together formidable package for Denver.
You hear that New Jersey? Formidable.

It's really a closer call than people like to make, and it'll suddenly become very close in Denver's eyes if Melo says nyet to the Nyets
Think about this if you're Melo for a second. If the Knicks can give up a credible package for him and Denver just somewhat prefers the Nets offer, then why on earth would you cave if you're Melo and go with their "somewhat" preference over his strong preference?
Everybody ... *everybody* ... knows that Melo strongly prefers the Knicks ... that means the Knicks' offer only needs to be within striking distance and if Melo holds his ground, he'll be a Knick.
Logic tells you that the Nuggets will take an offer they like over losing Melo for nothing, even if it isn't the somewhat better offer they somewhat prefer.
It's simple.
the nets picks are going to be better then ours, that's for sure. the way i think we make an equal offer is by taking al back. i think saving money is of primary concern to ownership. in the nets deal they get harris who while valuable needs to be paid and they're still stuck with al.
Yeah, Al's contract is looking like a poison pill. Who swallows it. IMO, the Knicks would be able to digest it easier than the Nets as they already have a playoff core that Anthony would walk into. The Nets would have swallow Al & Rip Hamilton's contracts and that kills any fantasy they had of getting Chris Paul in 2012

LeBron almost certainly arranged to join Bosh and Wade on the Heat but he seemed to waver at the end. Rose made sure that he didnt change.
In this present case, Rose & Wesley are using their influence & misinformation to both Melo and the public in order to keep Melo away from NYK. They are getting away with it because Stern is looking the other way.
We'll find out what Melo is really made of

As for Marc Gasol, I'm told there is zero chance Grizzlies let him go. Plan is to match any offer sheets. Not real option for Knicks.
Maybe that's why we are suddenly hearing the Knicks are making a push for 'Melo

The Nyets can't afford to take back Al because they would still need massive work on their roster ... Paul or whoever. So Al would kill them. Less so with us since we'd be close to the end of our roster building.

in doing so we can then deal our 2011 1st and our 2013 first round pick.
