why not Kaman? i understand he's available

Yeah but I think he has an albatross of a contract

you mean we will be over the cap and can not afford him....

Troy Murphy will be available.....
Dalembert as well, pryzbilla....
There are big men out there like Jermaine Oniel Sheed might want a chance to shine we will have ronnyT's contract we can deal him for Frye or a player of similar contract size

Even if the Nuggets are satisfied with the deal pieces and even if Melo will eventually go to the Nets, I doubt it happens this soon.

1. The Nuggets want that pick to be better and the Nets to be worse. Melo could help the Nets win one game they might not otherwise.

2. Melo views the Nets as a distant backup option. He'll want to make sure that the Knicks course is at an absolute end.

I think he's torn. Sure he wants to win but what is he willing to give up to win? Compared to his contemporaries .ie Amare , Lebron, Wade he's giving up more to play for his ideal team. Either way his is all out of our control.

All we can do is keep winning, while the Nets continue to lose...

He's not giving up more. In fact, in the current scale, he would lose only $5 million total, spread out over four years, but he'd also have an extra guaranteed year. What the new scale will be is just speculation.

How is he only losing $5M, spread out over 4 years? He and LeBron were on the same pay scale up until this past summer. LeBron could have signed for what, $16M per year if he didn't get the S&T? Melo's opt-in next year is $18.5M. Isn't that around a $2M difference just from next year alone? The extension is $65M over 3 years. I'm not sure how much the raise is each season, but that's an average of $21.6M per year. So how is he only losing $5M total over a 4 year span?

And that's assuming player salaries don't decrease.

mayo is a guard that can create his own shot...this team needs that

if you still have the chance to get melo in the OS while getting mayo now, its something to consider

Melo isn't going to wait until the OS, Denver will make a trade for sure. Mayo is just a piece the Knicks move in a possible deal for him.

i think there are a number of people that feel that way. there was a big debate recently about chandler vs mayo. i think it doesn't really matter who's better. what i know is, right at this moment, chandler has more value. his stock is rising and mayo's is falling. last year we all would have said mayo is better. this year i wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

Getting Melo in the off season was always something "to consider". You always stated that there is no way we should risk it because "Melo wants $$$". Seriously, your words. Why the hell does Melo say "Oh ****, Knicks got OJ MAYO? **** THAT, LET ME GIVE UP MILLIONS TO PLAY WITH THE AMAZING OJ MAYO"?

Moocow laid it out. If he takes the 1-year option + signs for 3 years with Denver, it adds up to 83 mil over 4 years. If he signs a 5-year max contract with the Knicks, the first 4 years add up to 78. It's $5 million. This "omgzorz, $20...million...dollarz" you hear from time to time is pure BS.

Taking bets that the Heat (LBJ/Rose/CAA) throw up a stinker tonight and allow the Nuggets the W just to keep this Melo thing stationary. The Heat can afford the L, they can blame it on LeBron's bum ankle and with every Nugget win Melo's departure isn't as dire.

...Well at least that's what the conspiracy goblin on my shoulder is whispering to me
