Nope.. was just stating that the reason players aren't on DNPs if a deal is imminent is not simply due to Nuggets wanting to make the playoffs, but for the fans who have paid to see these guys too...

Kerr seems to be the rational one.. the nets homer trying to make it seem like it's just about a done deal...which is moot if Melo doesn't want to go..

If the market for the extended Melo is 1 young stud, established 'all star' talent player, 2 first rounders at least, salary relief what is the rental market worth? What will Denver value most? The stud, the picks, the relief? Something is going to get cut away.

What are you guys expecting it to be? I feel the Denver organization is trying to as delicately as they can shift from buyers to rental market so as to appease fans, while also maintaining value as much as they can.

I suspect that offers from teams willing to rent Melo for the rest of the season will start entering the fray even before there's any 'decision' showdown with the Nets deal. Those two teams will be 'working' on something the whole time.

Melo has made it known to Denver he isn't signing with NJ without having to veto the idea in public. This allows Denver to keep NJs offer in the 'workings' as a bait bet to raise stakes. That's why offers the Knicks can possibly arrange will start to come out now.

Well, after 8 threads, I figured I'd throw in my own theory.

I think Melo's interviews have made it clear that 'Melo is not micromanaging this process. I don't think 'Melo has delivered ultimatums to Denver, and I don't think that his input has been solicited.

All Melo has done is a) not sign his extension b) not comment about any potential trades.

Makes me feel as if 'Melo told his agents and/or Nugs management "You do what you have to do. I'm going to play. . . .period --- and we have nothing to talk about until you have a deal to present me."

I think everyone knows where Carmelo wants to go, but that the Nugs/Nets have not asked point blank if he will decline to extend with NJN. Why? Prohkorov gets a storyline to try and engage his listless fan base with, Denver tries (badly) to generate leverage by playing NJN 'offers' off to other teams and hopefully feels it can convince 'Melo of its blueprint through backchannel talk with Leon Rose and WWW.

Neither team is going anywhere, and neither team really needs to be in a hurry here. Just get the feeling 'Melo made up his mind along time ago or else he would not have risked 4 months of camp, practices and games with 65 mm on the table ready to evaporate with any significant injury.

Carmelo is playing basketball, period, and hasn't opined on the Nets because neither Den. or NJN has asked him, likely out of fear for what they know the answer will be.

This guy isn't going to back down, imo. If he was going to go to Jersey and extend he would have pressed for the deal to be done by now, because he's got to be hating this purgatory.

Every day with no extension signed with the Nugs and no trade to NJN has made it clear that he is planning on neither of those teams being his employer over the next part of his career.

Knicks can get Melo without giving up Gallo or Chandler with Memphis involved in the deal. They can ship Randolph to Minny for that 1st and move Azuibuke & Walker plus 2011 2nd rd picks and 3 million to Memphis, Mayo, Curry, the 2011 1st from Memphis, Roger Mason and the rights to Jerome Jordan to Denver for Melo and Anthony Carter
