they are not bad, they have beaten all the good teams, but seem to not give a crap and lose to sucky teams.

Their bench sucks...even when Mayo is moved to 6th man; that's the main reason why they lose (they also don't give a crap lol).

normally i wouldnt be down about these reports.... but the kiss of death is that it is being report by David Aldridge.

Is this guy EVER wrong in his reports?

We'll see... regardless, melo or not, lets get through this so we can finally look at other trade options and such

PS. Who is a free agent this year? and i dont jus tmean elite guys (i think Melo is the only one).. any diamond in the rough guys like Felton was?

DA didn't report that Melo would sign an extension with the Nets.

Just to play Devil's advocate here... Nets three biggest selling points:

1) Carmelo returning to his birth place to become the face of Brooklyn's first major professional franchise since Jackie Robinson's Dodgers.

2) Every time another team wants a financial bail out, the owner will happily take on salary to surround him with talent.

3) Gets his full 3 year, $65 million extension under the current CBA.

Us Knicks fans should know better at this point that this strategy does not work well.

Not to mention that, unlike MLB, you can't just take on salary whenvever you feel like it. The owner will happily sign his own players to the max and pay the tax but he cant just take on salary and will likely be cap strapped immediately.

Thats a great team.

Fixed.

It may be a good team, but we wont get far in the playoffs with that roster.

Charley Murphy, I think you still have some residual Isiah-itis. No, we're not going to win the Championship this year. But there's no telling how good Fields, Chandler, and Gallo might be in a year or two. Shopping them for veteran plug-ins might look good on paper, but it's a recipe for disaster.

Memphis isn't any good because they have a collection of individual stars. We have something much much better. We have one superstar surrounded by a team of up and coming stars, who are growing together and learning how to win.

Make no mistake, "Plan B" is simply to develop the talent we already have while using cap space (and/or the Curry contract) to add depth.

In an arena that's been scaled down a few times and that will still be the East Coast version of the Clippers. And he's supposedly looking to expand his brand beyond just the basketball court.

See...

He could have done that just by saying "yes" 6 months ago.

Well, if that's all she wrote, then go get O.J. Mayo.

But, what I'm getting from bermanbury's article is that the Knicks are at least releasing this sorta information to implant this into melo's head.

The other way to look at it is that he can only say "no" for one more month. It would be pretty naive to think Carmelo didn't want his money.

Well i hope that this is decided before the deadline, because If melo goes to NJ towards the deadline, that gives us no time to do trades untill the off-season.

1. That's not all she wrote. Nothing has changed except Aldridge is reporting that the two sides have come to an acceptablel deal IF (and presumably only if) Carmelo actually agrees to sign with New Jersey.

If there is one thing I'm certain of it's that Donnie has got stuff lined up and plans B through Z (as someone else pointed out) is ready to go. I find it hard to believe that that old geezer is just chilling and not doing anything.

I trust the man completely with this franchise...! He has given me NO reason not to but to the contrary is the last thing I worry about.

It's a difference of a total of $5 million spread out over 4 years. Oh wowzorz.

Melo is not coming to NY for the veteran minimum. He will still get paid. Please check LBJ, Wade, and Bosh.

I'm talking about the new CBA. Bill Simmons estimated the difference at $20-30 million.

With regard to @SpearsNBAYahoo report that Melo needs to be sold on NJ, source said Nets "expected that and have a plan to do just that."

so, landry plays all game, every game? the point of getting mayo is for depth. if you can get him, why not?
