You guys are out of your minds if you want to take back Harrington just to get Melo's overrated butt. Out of your minds. Donnie would never do it, and rightfully so.

no way fields is off limits. If he was the piece missing from the deal in no way you stop the trade. And giving up a combo of chandler, fields, gallo, and AR, PLUS taking back harrington is a no go. Melo isnt worth that much. He is a top player in the game but I could name 15 players that i would rather have.

If Melo is smart, he'll know that Prohkorov is a guy who doesn't know anything about basketball or the cap rules. All he'll tell him is sales stuff -- doesn't mean he can get good players.

Plus I think i could handle AL a little more with Amare and Melo here, than Al with just Gallo and Chandler and Lee as our main guys. AL will defer to Melo and Amare period. He wont be allowed to be the chucker he used to be. Put i agree I dont want Al if we dont have to have him.

Not really. In your eyes he would be giving up 83 million. That is as if he would play for the big minimum. That is not the case at all.

In one scenario, he would be giving up 37 million if everything stays the same. In another scenario he would be giving up 20-30 million if owners get what they want. Overall, signing a contract is as much a risk as not signing it. I am not even mentioning the probability of the league cutting back on signed contracts. Then he would be losing on both money as well as the years.

Dude, no. In my eyes he's giving up a guarantee for a maybe. That's it. All of your scenarios involve a big fat "if" that nobody (least of all you) can speak about with any certainty. Look, unless you know something the rest of the NBA doesn't, there's just no guaranteeing what MIGHT happen. Disagree with me all you want, but there is exactly one way that Carmelo gets his guaranteed money. And that's by accepting a deal before the current CBA expires. Anything after that is conjecture. Not a guarantee.

I feel like Ben Afleck in "Good Will Hunting" when he shows up in a suit for the job interview. I feel like a big (Please Use More Appropriate Word) screaming "Retainer!" But anyway you slice it, it's true. Carmelo only has one way of getting his guaranteed full extension.

Once you put it this way, I guess LBJ, Bosh, and Wade were idiots since they turned down extensions. Even a secondary guy like JJ turned down 75 million. How did that turn out? Life is about taking calculated risks. It is obvious Melo will get his money if he signs that contract (funny that is unless the owners get their way and roll back on existing contracts ala NHL but let's ignore that). By the way, you know that nobody gets paid in a lockout.

I heard that Jordan Farmar had a 5 year $55 million dollar offer from Minnesota, but also chose the nets for (a lot) less money once meeting with proko.
