This just reassures my feelings that NO ONE CHOOSES TO PLAY FOR NJ UNLESS THEY HAVE NO CHOICE

It feels like Prokorov is more concerned about Making sure the Knicks dont get better so when the Nets come to Brooklyn they dont look as bad. How funny would that be if Carmelo signed with NJ and then when they move to their new arena here got booed at their homecourt haha..

Prokorov is all about business, thats why hes willing to gut the team for him. And i hate it when people bring up the nets "rebuilding process". If they get Melo and trade their picks with favors and harris their aint gonna be no Rebuilding process.

This proko guy must be really convincing......

no way fields is off limits. If he was the piece missing from the deal in no way you stop the trade.

Believe it or not, this is a legitimate debate. If there is one player deemed "untouchable" (besides Amar'e and Ray), it's Landry Fields.

I go back and forth on this. Even if it means losing Carmelo, I'm still not sure it's worth gutting the young core, especially Fields. Three years from now, given our cap space, chemistry, and room to grow, this Knicks core might contend for a title anyway.

I know if push came to shove that 90% of you would ditch Landry for Carmelo, but there's another side to that argument.

is alan hahn suffering from alzheimer's disease? guess he was sleeping thoughout the free agency process

I think he means if he gets to him meaning convinces him or wins him over. not simply meets with him.

he couldn't convince lebron?

let the garbage nets have him already........billips, hamilton, lopez, humphreys, and mello is a
lineup that is going nowhere! melo is punk, let him be the face of the worst franchise in sports history, maybe he can sell more stop snitching smack DVDs in Brooklyn, and because its the nets
it will be acceptable to sucker punch someone and then run like a coward......nets giving up up picks
and cap space will make them a laughing stock for years to come, and melo is not smart or articulate
and will not be able to Handel the new york press especially when they start losing....dw should make a push 4 grannger, if they cant get him iggy, if we cant do either were still better than the nyets

Well actually he is fairly articulate and relatively smart, also very generous with his money. That's why none of this makes sense. He donates millions, is already filthy rich...he can't just be all about the money, which is what the Nets deal represents. I have a hard time believing he'll do this...I think this is a hail mary by the Nets hoping he'll sign the extension...if Melo was agreeable to this, it would have happened by now. Is Prok really going to change his mind? I don't see it. Donnie is playing this just right.

Lebron didnt care about the Nets because he was just waiting to join the Heat. All i heard though was how the Nets had the best interview out of all the teams he visitied.

Prokorov obviously can secure him finacially, and playing with a large market in brooklyn NY. But when Melo asks about their future with the players and trying to get better he better come up with something he can guarantee, Other then RIP theirs nothing to look foward too, and i dont even know why Melo would be excited to play with him anyway.

Yep. But in that note, Melo needs to realize that if Phrokorov feels he can make a couple (million) bucks, he'd dump the team in a second (it's just business). Then what happens to those words and promises that he whispers into Melo's ears? Phrokorov isn't Mark Cuban who is as much a fan as he is a businessman.

Hahn really wusses out saying that all Prohkorov needs to do is walk in the room with him.

It's an insult to Melo but more importantly, it is this hero worship thing.

He's tall ... he's rich ... he's Russian ... oh woooooow.

I must have missed the section in the CBA that grants an exception to the CBA every year if you're tall rich and Russian.

Melo should be smarter than this.

Landry isn't untouchable. I'd trade him if it helped keep our depth (i.e. giving up only ONE of Fields/Gallo/Chandler + Randolph + Knicks pick). As much as I love Landry's game we'd be gaining Melo in his prime to take some of the focus off of Amare in his prime while keeping Chandler (who's been playing out of his mind) and gaining the MLE. It's a no brainer. There's no guarantee Fields becomes anything more than Matt Barnes AND I LOVE BARNES GAME!!! But even if he was a rich mans Matt Barnes he wouldn't garner the attention from the opposition and the calls from the officials Melo garners.

I think if a trade do not happen on Tuesday morning, it wont. You also have to take schedule into account. NJN are 10-28 with a chance losing next 3. So they could be 10-31 at the half of the season!!!!

With a 5 game home stand this is a last chance for a playoff push, a small chance yes but still. I think around 38 wins could be enough for 8th spot. So NJN would have to go 28-13 in 2nd half of the season. I highly doubt they would be capable of that.

I think people underestimate how much this new breed of players just want to win as opposed to being stuck in a losing situation with a lot of cash. I think they understand that money and fame comes from winning--not just the contract they get with the team they're on.

Let's hope Melo is one of those new breed of players.

I agree that they'd be hoping to make a push for the playoffs, but I just don't see them winning 28 out of their final 41 games. That's a .683 winning percentage, meaning they'd have to be like a top 5 team in the league over the 2nd half of the season. Are Rip and Lopez really better than Melo's current supporting cast in Denver?
