Would it be insane to consider trading Westbrook?

Post#1 » by whatisthis » Thu Jan 13, 2011 3:45 pm

Lets say it could net us a good to great center, would you consider it? Honestly I think Durant's production would go up with a pass first PG and it will fill a void.

If we could land Bogut for Westbrook, would you do it?

There are two big guys I would even consider trading Westbrook for right now and they are Dwight Howard (definitely) and Al Horford (maybe, but probably not). He's too gifted, and most of his problems are between the ears. I wouldn't trade Westbrook for Bogut.

The only reason I ask the question is because I think Westbrook is the only trade piece we could use to land a center and be able to find a decent replacement. Obviously we couldn't find a PG on his level, but insert someone on Jason Kidd's current level..Durant's production would probably go up to around 32 ppg which would help.

I just wonder if

PG-10 ppg 10 apg 5 rpg
SG-Harden/Thabo
SF-Durant/Green
PF-Ibaka/Collison
C-Bogut/Krstic

wouldn't be a much better option

IDK i suppose I'm overreacting to Russ's poor play over the past few weeks. It just seems like he's forcing things way too much and almost trying to throw himself into the spotlight.

It's just a bad idea to trade a player like Westbrook who is so early in his development curve, especially a PG. Maybe this is something you consider in a couple / few years if things aren't going right.

Yes, Russ has forced some offense, but it's probably at the behest of the coaching staff. It's what they want him doing sometimes. You take your time with players who are obviously making improvements, and it's hard to ignore the improvements Russ has made this season overall. I just wish he would play defense, more than anything.

Westbrook has all the tools, he just need a playbook to run.

I think he has SuperStar value and he should just be traded for his weight in gold.

Bogut for Westbrook - I consider that for sure. I'd rather Bogut than Horford? Not sure what you're thinking with that one Slick TBH

Bogut is an amazing defender, not just at blocking shots but he takes charges and has some post game.

RW is special, but we'd be more likey to win a chip with Bogut IMO

Bogut/Ibaka/Durant/Harden/Maynor

Green/Collison/Thabo/backup pg.

yep - i'd take hard look at that

What if you were getting Nash and your choice of Lopez/Gortat? This is your win it all in the next 2-3 years option.

I like Bogut but I worry about his longevity and injury issues. His offense has fallen off a cliff, presumably having to do with his arm.

Al Horford is terrific offensively, and I think he'd be a great defender at PF, too. He's also built like a tank. I wouldn't trade Russ for him unless Russ wanted a trade, but it's the kind of return I would expect.

not when we can throw money at nene in the offseason with no restriction

and even if that wasn't the case you don't trade a budding star unless he's explicitly said he wants out of OKC

HELL NO! I would not trade WESTBROOK, you are talking about a well put together point guard, who has great slashing abilities and his jumper has started to come together, and we all know he can REBOUND, and the energy and hustles he brings. If it's for Dwight Howard i would do it, but still Westbrook is an All-Star. Besides i would just go after a center in FA
Aaron Brooks use to tie my shoe, back in middle school! hahaha good luck buddy!

decent thought. But, not well thought out. The Bucks have Jennings, Salmons and Magette. Why would they trade a center and move one of thoes guys to the bench? No reason for either team to make a deal there.

The only center at this point that I would trade Westbrook for would be Howard also.

Other than that you're nuts.

Bogut is too injury prone. Westbrook needs work on his shot selection and overall decision making, but he's an incredible talent. Thunder will have a duo near the Lebron/Wade level for a good 5-7 years. No point in throwing that away.

It sort of reminds me of Garnett and Marbury in 96-97 but with less ego issues. I don't think the magic will let howard go even if it's for durant. He is too much of an icon in amway.

A center you guys should be targeting is de andre jordan. If you trade westbrook for bogut, durant will leave after this contract is over and okc will lose its franchise or will be a lotery team for the next 10 years.

I have been thinking this for ages now. (bolded part)
