Every great championshipe team needs a good bench. What can New Jersey do to improve their bench?

Every championship team needs a good starting lineup...

This team is a 43 or so win team with near perfect health as is next season and beyond.

Say hello to the 7th seed for me!

No, we need a star next to Melo, arguably one better then Melo himself.

This team is a lower playoff seed 1st round knockout as will be constructed after the reported trade with no way to improve to anything better then a second round knockout.

Welcome back to 2005-2007 and there isn't a player on this roster as good as Kidd or Vince Carter was back then and that's including Melo.

Thabet and williams's contracts aren't bad at all and could help the team. Thabet can come in and block some shoots and while his offense just plain sucks he is a better rebounder then lopez is. and lou williams only gets good minutes when someone is hurt. All he knows how to do is score.

Thabust is absolute trash and although Williams is a solid young player, he's like a poor man's Devin Harris.

These guys are not game changers.

So we're ready to cast off Lopez for Thabeet and Louis Williams? And THEN we'll be contenders?

nope just stated the obvious, lopez is not intimidating at all and with us trading petro and muphry we need a defensive back up, now he doesn't have to be the guy for the job but he's young and avalible. and the same thing with williams, he's not the only scorer we can get but who else ca we afford. othr guys like jamal crawford, o.j mayo, etc..

Johan Petro looks like Emeka Okafor in comparison to Thabust.

You're already talking about a championship caliber bench when...

Honest questions, how many games do you see us winning consistently winning in the regular season after the proposed Melo trade 1.)with and 2.)without us going after your targets of Thabeet and Williams? How far do you see us going in the playoffs?

If we pull this trade then over the next 40 games i see us winning 27 of them which should put us in the 7th seed in which we would probably lose in 6 games to celtics.

everyone is getting cought up the thabeet, i mentioned him agin cuz he's young, avalible, and a intimidating shot blocker. I know he's trash but he does have skills we could use, and with our coach being defensive minded along with billups, humphries, and Rip just think of what that can do for him.

id really like to see the other pieces that could be involved... theyr saying that numbers-wise this will be the largest trade in NBA history so obviously there are many many more pieces involved than the 4 or 5 names that have been thrown around... who knows, a team could just end up meshing well and we could end up with a solid bench. i mean honestly can u really tell me that anyone on the championship pistons was an ELITE player? No. but they played great D and they played extremely well together and they were only together for less than 2 years.

So that's around 67% winning percentage. That's give or take 54 games in a full season. We would be devoid of nearly all attractive assets and we would be over the cap. Let's say a deal can't be worked out for Paul or any big name since they don't want our huge contracts. We're a year older. Do you believe we're a +50 win team throughout Melo's extension?

The ONE exception to the rule since...I don't know, Dennis Johnson's Sonics. And that was in 1979. It's a stars' league. The Pistons didn't change that.

i agree 100% I mean our bench right now consist of farmar, vujacic, outlaw, and james when he comes back. now tell me that we have points and stops coming off our bench as it stand. oh and dont forget that adrey Blatche is avalible and can put up buckets also.

I think we should buyout billups and look elsewhere, maybe even see if farmar can handle it. when given starter minutes he's almost averaged a double-double, if you dont believe me check it out.

Really? Seriously?

You think that overnight a team that is playing under .300 basketball all year long is going to start playing .600 basketball?

Let me point out the obvious, when you go through that much roster upheaval the incoming players need time to learn each other and gain chemistry. Both Miami & the Knicks had roster overhauls last year and even with a full training camp each team took about 20 games to finally get everyone on the same page.

Therefore if we apply the same logic of a 20 game adjustment period to the Nets they'd have to almost go undefeated over the final 20 games ot come close to hitting your numbers. And this also overlooks some obvious holes that the Nets roster has.

I tend to agree, but so many of the important involved players coming back to NJ already or have in the past played together for extended periods.
