I think the OJ Mayo-to-DEN talk was pure speculation because NYK brass are probably having discussions about OJ Mayo that are being lumped into Knicks' pursuit of Melo...however, it could be DW/Knicks' "Plan B" to bring OJ Mayo to NYK if Melo signs an extension somewhere else. Wouldn't be bad if OJ wound up in NYK.
Revolution starts in the mind...

Great news, thanks.

Man don't listen to that kneega.

This isn't rocket science... You can be as sarcastic as you want to be. IF MELO wants to be a Knick who can stop him? The CBA lock out threat? If it happens NO ONE's getting paid anyway. And if you think a group of people (the league, players, agents, etc), in these economic times are going to risk pissing NBA fans off the way baseball fans were after their strike (they needed a home run race to bring the sport back)- you're going to learn something this summer. This is not the time for a lockout from that groups perspective. You don't throw away EASY money. Therefore, if Melo wants to be a Knick all he has to do is wait 5 MONTHS. He already made over 100 million- what- he can't wait 5 months? He's so afraid he's going to miss out on 10 million dollars even if a miracle happens and a lock out takes place. What- the lock out is going to last forever? Come on guys... Lebron didn't go to the Nets but Melo is going to?

So go ahead and be sarcastic all you want...

I want to beat the Heat without Melo and I believe we can with smart tweaks not with swing for the fences tweaks. I want a real rivalry, one not close to where I live personally but close to home as in the same back yard.

When and IF Melo goes to Jersey I wonder who's your next superstar that you're going cry for...

Who the heck is crying? How about you wait until he does go (or doesn't go) before accusing people of something you don't want to head down accusing people of...or maybe you do...to which...by all means...keep it up. Yeah...push me.

Why, because the Nets are confident? Any people who have been cited as sources close to Melo are saying that he doesn't want to go to the Nets. A whole bunch of people have said that, all of them in fact, after Sheridan said it first.

His report was accurate.

He never said the Nets would not be confident. The only pro-Nets reports are the ones with people saying that the Nets are confident. Nobody has issued a report with anything about "A source close to Anthony says he is likely to go to the Nets." Nothing close in fact.

I believe Sheridan was on point all along....Melo wants to come to The Knicks and his "handlers" are looking to cash in as quickly as possible. The moment of the truth will arrive sooner rather than later and Melo will have to speak up or be played!

I will bet that IF Melo winds up in New Jersey, that at some point BEFORE next season, he will cut ties with CAA and Leon Rose soon after, extension or not!

Until we hear that Melo has agreed to extend anywhere else, it simply doesn't matter.

If he goes to the Nets, I can't wait to see that he would have been Grandfathered in or that all salaries (including his extension) are cut.

I guarantee that one or the other happens.

The NBA is not going to allow an inequitable result like Rudy Gay making $17M a year while Melo (better than and far senior to Gay) is making $15M a year or something like that. Never going to happen. They won't have it.

I want Melo in NY, but that embarrassment to Leon Rose will almost be more fun to watch unfold ... Melo stuck in New Jersey for pretty much the same contract he could have had on the Knicks.

Major egg on the face.

This is all on Melo still. Ultimately, he's either going to sign an extension with NJ or see what happens in Free Agency. It doesn't look like a trade with Denver is going to happen.

Given the choices, I can't really blame him for his indecision. The Knicks for all he knows is not a sure thing either even if he decides to remain a free agency. A lot could happen between now and the summer. For example, it might seem unlikely, but the Knicks could possibly make a move that decreases their cap space. If another player comes along that makes the Knicks much better now but would take up some cap space for 2011, would you do it? I know it's unlikely but hypothetically what if Chandler becomes a superstar in the second half and the Knicks simply decide to re-sign him for cheaper? In fact, we already know that the Knicks don't have the cap space as of now to sign Melo without shedding some salary. Worst case scenario for Melo is that he doesn't get traded to the Knicks, the Knicks don't have the cap space to sign him, and he's stuck signing with a team he doesn't want to play with for less dollars. That's a huge risk to take.

If melo wants to go to a 10 win team cause he gets pressured into it, I say good luck home boy. This is just like Marbury when he thought Jersey was close enough to home n sorts like NY, boy was he wrong! Two words for Melo ......... ALL ALONE

People are really emotionally invested in this.

I'm happy with my team. We're young, we have flexibility for the future and we're winning for the first time in 10 years. I'll be perfectly happy sticking with this team and adding a solid center to it. I feel this team is good enough to grow together as a team and keep improving as the season goes along. We still need a backup PG and a good center but I feel that is all we need. We have scoring, we have shot blocking, we have a real PG. We just need a guy who can defend the paint down low and grab rebounds and we will be very good.

Should Carmelo go to the Nets it's no skin off my back. They will still be mediocre and we will continue improving.

ya im sure theyll be real embarrassed. its a business for them. its about money not w-l. if they get that contract signed now its a success , they can wipe the egg off with 100 dollar bills later. Basketball is a business for them, not a hobby or interest like it is for the forum frontiers.
