I think he's a gambler by nature. It would not surprise me if he simply does the deal without the extension. Well I guess it would surprise me a bit, but far from shock me.

He thinks he can convince Melo once he's there and I think he's completely unwilling to concede this one to the Knicks.

That would be a really bad gamble with the deck stacked against him. Once Melo spends half of a season playing in front of a half empty arena he is going to quickly realize that the swamp aint NY!!

relax folks. he aint signing an extension with the nets. melo is about winning a chip, not about the money. a few years ago he would have gone with the money. but in light of lebron, wade, bosh, and now boozer and amare, all these guys choosing to go to winning situations and pursuing championships... melo will do the same. he puts winning a chip before money. we got this. we never didn't have this.

actually if you didn't just blindly think everyone in the world hates the knicks who have sucked for 10 years, you would know he's been the only one besides sheridan who has more or less had the knicks' back in this melo stuff. but yea...doussard nevertheless.
