It pains me to say but it is a pretty cool thing, the new arena is nice. They will never be us, but it does suck a lot that they are coming into our town. I hate it, it makes me sick to my stomach.

"Opening night, Brooklyn, arena going crazy"
Seems like Brooklyn might just be enough to sell him...
I hope he does realize nobody is going to Brooklyn when the Knicks are a playoff team now.

Kane, was the interview the link that you posted? Because if it was it is exactly as I thought it was (Melo playing the game). I think the impression he was trying to get across is that his mind isn't made up and it's very hard for him and he cares about everyone but ultimately he will be forced to weight everything and do whats best for his family. When you look at what the "Knicks" have to offer (closest of the three teams to contention, his first choice or "ultimate dream", resources, youth with Amare and Felton, one of the three guys if you believe we would have to give up two of them. Cap space if he waits so we can keep two of three. How does he go anywhere else??
Yeah thats the interview. Everything you say makes total sense. I think the same things. But its all speculation from us the fans of the knicks. Its what we do to convince ourselves. He didnt look excited about NJ. But his face lit up on the prospect of playing in brooklyn.
It IS a game, like you said. The same game Lebron played. He can deny it. But if he didnt want to make a big stink about it, he would not have done a ESPN interview talking about the decision he makes and weighing out his options. I was dead set that the opportunity's available to James in NY were to much to pass up. And he was just being coy.
I do think NYK is his number one option. I dont think they trade him to NYK. Forcing him to consider NJ. A team that will become BK. And it seems like something he is now considering. And he sure looked genuinely happy talking about brooklyn.
Maybe he is a great actor. But I wont be fooled again. This dude is playing games. Not exactly the same game James played. But its very similar. Amare, his so called buddy on the other hand, didnt play the game. And ironically is not down with the team that masterminded the game. Unlike anthony.
Yes and who nows why he is playing this game...
Attention?
Pressuring the Knicks to Pony up?
Although the interview was not bad - he doesn't seem to be leaning one way or another - it's slightly bothersome that he fails to mention winning . Even Lebron, from the get go, that was all he talked about...and it was the one thing he was not BSing about. Melo on the other hand sounded like he was all on the whole Brooklyn homecoming mystique tip.
This is too Lebron deja vu ish.

I understand the Brooklyn appeal. However, he's not going to go from 8 years of rebuilding to go right into a situation of potentially 8 years all over again. Everyone is referencing Lebron BUT Lebron WENT into a winning situation. He didn't go into a rebuilding one.

Yeah LeBron took less money to go into a guaranteed winning situation. Let's hope Melo pretty much does the same.

There is no telling whether there will be a resolution to the Anthony situation by then, but one Knicks official conceded that crunch time in the trade talks appears to have arrived -- and a major factor will be whether Anthony sticks to his guns and tries (by refusing to agree to a contract extension with the Nets) to force a trade to his preferred borough: Manhattan.

The difference NOW is that the Knicks had no idea that "Miami" was their competition. The Nets don't have what Miami had... The Nets (with Melo) under no circumstances (outside of a miracle) have a chance of winning 20 out 21 games...

I wish Anthony would tell the Nets he isn't interested in playing there long-term, before a deal is agreed upon....I just want the Nets to goo away.

Damn. I went to the worst Knick game of the season today only to come home to more Melo drama. Everyone at the Garden was going nuts speculating because Leon Rose was in the house.

Re: [Camelo Thread Part 9] - OJ to DEN, Melo to NY? Pg 7
I have always believe the best route for the Knicks is try to acquire the 3 headed monster which reports said they were trying to do last trade rumor, but the Knicks were beating he bottom feeder teams on a little winning streak so they didn't want to mess it up. I firmly believe that wherever Mayo goes, Hasheem Thabeet will be the tag along.
Right now Knicks are 22-17 in 6th place in the East. Don't see them dropping any further than 6th. They will probably face Chicago or Orlando first round. With a strong possibility of advancing to the 2nd round.
I'll take my chances with a 3 headed monster OJ Mayo/Carmelo Anthony/Amare Stoudamire while having Felton as the PG, and keeping Fields. Fields although 6'7 is really long could probably play him at the 3 for a lot of the time and Melo at the 4, since they like to get up and down anyway.
PG: Raymond Felton
SG: OJ Mayo
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Amare Stoudamire
C: Hasheem Thabeet
Bench
Landry Fields
I like the sound of this squad, maybe it can become reality soon.

"Any decision I make is the biggest decision of my life," Anthony said. "It'll carry on and it'll follow me for the rest of my life, too."
"[This decision] will define my legacy."
For everything we talked about, about the Nets team that WILL be old (RIP,Billups) and over the cap, second tier to the Knicks....
for such a strong Statement from 'Melo, I believe he is looking into it just as much as we are and will use common sense. "Biggest decision of my life", will not be to goto a 10 win team with a 2 old men.

He understands it all and he won't take the bigger gamble (Nets).

I was just looking at denver schedule and they have pretty hard week after the cavs game they play the spurs, thunder and the lakers I think it all depends how they do this week if they lose all three game against these playoff contenders then i think he will get but if they win all three games against these team he will denver for the remainder of the season.

What's with people and thinking OJ Mayo is some big stud right now.. he ain't and will never be Kobe, and quite frankly, Chandlers playing fine of late, especially compared to him..
As for Melo, I watched the interview he did w ESPN, talking about the idea of 'opening in Brooklyn' and whatnot.. and I think it would be something we should be fearful of if it weren't such a bad team that they have... I mean, that opening is what 2 years away, so he wouldn't even be 'opening' for a good while, and he'd be stuck with the crap that they have now.... I think that part, plus his desire to play for the Knicks, plus the fact that we do have pieces and a star, make us much more appealing

Exactly... The Nets are so far away even if you're optimistic. Melo doesn't have time for that. Maybe if he were 21 and he had a choice the "Brooklyn choice" would concern me..

If Curry is complaining abt not being able to play then that must mean he's in some form of shape. I say this because I believe Denver wont budge because they believe Curry is 100% dead weight. I think Walsh should try to convince them that Gallo and Curry are legit pieces. I also wonder what Walsh said to Rose.
