To say chandler won't take the qualifying offer how does anyone know that. Is it unlikely sure but is there a chance that he would sure. Ronnie turiaf opting out for a longer contract that could happen as well. We have 94 pages of opinions and none of it will matter after he makes his decision

See what Richard Jefferson did in Texas regarding his contract. Not to mention, what concessions players will be willing to make the minute we have Melo. See Miami... Players that want the hardware are not blind and stupid. They see where the league is going. SUPER TEAMS- 2 and three supers stars to win a championship. If all Chandler has to do is accept the QO to be part of a super team long-term why wouldn't he?

Rgay got his payday already, he got his big contract, he's fine with his money, he can sacrafice some to play for a winner. chandler hasnt and is coming off a career year, id be amazed if he took a qualifying offer

As the Nets and Nuggets continue to pound out a deal to bring Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey, the star himself spoke about the situation today before what could end up being his last game in a Denver uniform.

Anthony, who has yet to say whether he'd agree to a deal, told the Denver Post his ultimate goal is to win a championship.

"Going to a bigger market is cool, but if I feel like I have a chance of winning a championship here in Denver in the next five years, then I’d sign the extension,” he said in the Post interview.

“It’s just uncertainty in the future of the (Nuggets) organization,” Anthony continued. “A lot of things come in to play: contracts and not knowing what’s going to happen in the future. I’m going into my ninth season. I don’t have time to waste. I want to see the light at the end of the tunnel in my future, and that light is a championship.

He wants to leave Chauncy now because he doesn't think Denver is a contending team. Why would he think Chauncy in NJ of all places changes things?

in the article he seems to be saying that he doesn't believe management/ownership in denver has shown the willingness to do what it needs to make the team a contender. and he's right, they've made money saving moves at the expense of talent like camby. what you hope he realizes is that even if jersey is willing to spend money it's not that easy, not with the salary cap. i'm like you, this doesn't make sense to me. but we're being logical, who knows if he is ?

I just don't see Carmelo being cold dragging Chauncey along with him to NJ. It is well documented he wants to retire a Nugget and work for the FO. The two of them are very close and I know for a fact Carmelo is very aware of that. IMHO if 'Melo drags Billups along with him, he is worse than LeBron in some ways.

So do Net's fans really think they'll be contenders with a roster of Melo, Billups, Hamilton and Lopez.... I just don't see it. Signing an extension with the Nets would be the exact same thing as signing one with the Nuggets. Except the Nuggets are actually closer to being contenders then the Nets. Seems to be a lot of Kool Aid drinking going on here.

Some Net fans would rather rebuild with all those picks they have.
