Anyway, I think I can guess who BC will now draft:

I know that we haven't exactly had the best luck with euros, and obviously BC has a thing for them.

One thing I keep hearing about Vesley is that he does not play like a typical Euro at all. He's crazy athletic, long, and tough. He throws down crazy dunks in games where his head is nearly at the rim.

Which brings up the one underrated element of this draft for us - as much as we don't want another euro, let's face it, that's our only advantage in signing/drafting players. Euro's like it here (not including Hedo). They like BC, they like Gherandini.

There looks to be 4 possible lottery players who are european - Vesley, Kanter, Donatas and Valenciunous. We'll have an advantage in getting one of those guys, maybe get one of them to make a promise to us if we trade down. If we can't get Barnes, Jones or Irving we might as well take a swing for the fences pick. Any of those four could be very good players, or could bust but I'll bet atleast two (or maybe all of them) would love to play in Toronto.

The guy that I like for our pick (assuming Barnes and Perry are gone) is Chris Singleton. I watched the Duke game- he's exactly what we need.

He's a true SF who can score efficiently, rebound very well and defend like a terror. He forces so many turnovers and forces tough shots.

IMO he's pretty much the perfect complement to the core of DD, Bargnani & Davis.

Knight and Jones, looking good tonight. Wish we could draft both of them.

So I guess Vesly already got a promise from BC and friends?

Jan Vesley to me is Jonas Jerebko, great guy to have but not worth a top 5 pick by any means

Jimmer Fredette is on fire this year and is averaging more pts than Kemba but in a less competitive league. Dude is def racking up the points with 47 last night against Utah. Come March Madness will be the real test for him where he faces tougher opponents.

Vesely is nothing like Jerebko. Vesely is tremendously athletic and about three inches taller, and he's got a lot of swag. He projects much higher than Jerebko could have dreamed. Now, top 5? top 8? Well, it's going to depend who's in the draft.

If we dont resign Weems, and Singleton is gone by the time the MIAMI pick rolls around, I wouldn't mind Scotty Hopson.

My gut is telling me we end up with Kanter. Which I would be very happy with but obviously would prefer Perry or Irving

We need to get real lucky for a shot at no.1.
The cavs are taking tanking to new heights.

Give me Perry Jones, H.Barnes, Vesely or T.Jones. I dont care which.

BC should bring them all in for a H2H workout; best defender wins.

Add in Singleton to that list. He's the best wing defender in the NCAA. Plus 16 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 42% 3pt shooting. He's playing as the best of the bunch of SF this year.

He's everything we want.

2011 Lottery Draft is Stacked With PF's...What's the point?

Post#1155 » by VC-INJURY » Sun Jan 16, 2011 2:36 pm

The Raps are going to get stuck with another big if they keep the pick. Using the mock draft provided by draft express, 7 of the top 10 picks are either PF's or C's (or can play PF or C at the NBA level). The pick needs to be packaged with another big and used to acquire an all-star player or 2. If the Raps keep the pick and draft a big, the Raptors will officially change their logo to:

There are 3 intriguing point guards that are supposed to go in the lottery as well, Irving, Walker, and Selby.

Be honest with yourself. Irving and Walker will both probably be gone when we pick (7-10th unless we win the lotto).

There may be a potential star wing when we draft if we get lucky. Pair him up with DD, get lucky and we could have a team.

If it gets to the point where Kanter, Valanciunas or Vesley are the best players available when we pick then i'd flat out trade the pick.. We already have a enough of young players without any superstar potential we don't need another..

Our franchise goal should be to fake Calderon and Bargnani injury's and tank for that #1 pick. (Irving)

My dream draft = 4 things.

-Harrison Barnes with the Raps pick
-Acquire a mid-first rounder for Brandon Knight (trade board idea: Calderon/Kleiza for Bibby/Williams + ATL first)
-Announcement the Miami pick has been dealt for Anthony Randolph
-LaceDarius Dunn with our 2nd round pick

Knight/Bayless
DeRozan/Barbosa/Dunn
Barnes/Williams/Weems/Wright
Johnson/Davis/Randolph
Bargnani/Dorsey/Alabi

...then a subsequent deal is made to deal Barbosa unless it has been done.

-Harrison Barnes has to show me more before he warrants a top 10 pick
-Brandon Knight? meh. With a mid-first, I'd look at Fredette or if he's available Vesely
-I'm afraid Randolph will be traded for a late-teen pick by then. Watch Indiana for that
-We don't have a second round pick, at least not yet.
