During all this Melo facilitating stuff, I actually thought of Afflalo as well. There's a UCLA connection with Love. He can shoot 3's, he plays good D, and he makes intelligent decisions much more often than out guards currently do. It might just be the teams influence on him, because I don't remember me liking him much in Detroit, but I'd still be willing to take a look at him if he needs a home after a Melo deal.

guys, I highly doubt we get Afflalo.
What other options are out there.

Yea, the only way we have a chance of getting Afflalo is taking on Harrington's contract and giving them back a decent asset, and as much as I would love to have Afflalo on this team, I dont love him that much.

I really don't like any of the lower tier options out there because they just wouldnt be a long term fit. I mean, we arent trying to win now, so might as well see what we got. I'd actually like to draft David Lighty in the late first/second round and see what he can do. I like his game a lot, and I think it could transfer very very well to the NBA

No trades, except minor moves like e.g. a possible move for Anthony Randolph.
Make sure Rubio is coming over.
Then we have:

Rubio - (great starting PG)
Johnson - (should be pretty good next year already)
Beasley - (make him play D and he is a star)
Love - (Allstar)
Milicic - (about to become a great Center)

This means, one year growing as a team and win some games and next year to make some noise in the playoffs.

A guy called Wiggy is not going to make that happen. Call him King Wiggins, A-Wolf or whatever.

I'm not a Iggy fan but

Rubio
Iggy
Beasley
Love
Milicic

Has the potential to be a really good defensive team if those five guys are willing to commit themselves to working hard on defense (I'm looking at you Beasley).

This lineup would be I guess in top 4-5 teams in conference.

Rubio has to prove himself in the NBA before we can start calling him "great".
Milicic is improving but in my opinion he will never be considered a "great center".

I saw Rubio play a lot and i am confident he will be pretty "great" from the get-go.
(Of course, you never know)
I only hope he will be mentally strong enough to not be affecte by the move etc.

Milicic, well like you said, you have your opinion. We all have different ones, that is the beauty about it.

I think we have different definitions of the word "great". You can't be telling me you think Milicic is a future Hall of Famer. What about the All-Star game, do you think he will make multiple All-Star teams? Milicic is playing pretty good, but not good enough to be throwing the word "great" around.

Yeah, I was surprised by the use of the word "great." I would say that they could both be very good. Darko could be an all star (do I sound like Kahn?), but that has as much to do with the lack of quality centers as it does his improvement. And maybe Rubio will be an all star sometime if their is a very strong Spanish voting turnout. I see if hard for him to pass the likes of Deron, CP3, and Westbrook any time soon.
