the nets are only willing to offer Harris because they fill it would help land them Melo. we have nothing to offer for Harris that we would acept or the Nets would. only thing we could offer is JC1, Marvin, and maybe Teague and picks..... I don't the Nets would take that. and we wouldn't offer Horford or Smoove..... I hope not anyway. Not without getting back Harris and Lopez..... and the Nets are trying to make the roster more attractive for Melo. sending Lopez out would not make New Jersey an attractive team for Melo........

I read the link and I think geeman is right: we could offer Jamal to POR for Miller so that NJ could send Harris to us. POR just might prefer that to Harris, since they're looking to get free of their contractual obligations.

I think Portland would probably prefer Devin Harris over the Patty Mills/Armon Johnson pg tandem.

Portland already ask us about JC! Maybe we could get in the mix ( 3 way deal) offering teague and JC
and get back Devin Harris. It least try to inprove our team! and you know... I think Devin harris would improve our team!

Also, HoopsGuru25 you do know that Bradon Roy is aready not happly with Miller because he needs like the ball in his hand. I think Devin Harris would require the ball more. We could offer bibby and JC to get back Devin

Guys I'm sorry if I seem a bit obsessed with this move but could you imagine a starting back court of JJ and Devin with Teague and JC2 coming off the bench and a developing Pape Sy. I believe Devin would lift us to another level the same way Bibby did whin he came here from sactown.

But why would Portland do a deal like that? Would it save them money? Yes. But are they prepared to make Patty Mills their starter right away?

We aren't going to be able to add a starter type of player by giving up Bibby and Crawford. Crawford is expiring but that value only takes you so far.

I'm not sure where to put this, but would ATL have any interest in this type of deal in the offseason?

Kaman/Clippers 2011 First for Horford

There might need to be some other players involved for Horford's PPP/future BYC status, but this will give the Hawks a real center, who was an all-star last year AND what looks to be a top 5 pick. That means someone like Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, Terrence Jones, Jared Sullinger, etc. I know this would be a crazy deal, and very unlikely, but I just wanted to see what you guys think of it.

SportsFan215,

Horford is the rock of our franchise. He averages more points and rebounds than Chris Kaman...and Josh Smith for that matter. He also leads our team in FG% and double doubles.

But you want us to trade him for a guy who averages 7 fewer ppg?!?

:-?

No.

In all honesty, I would be ecstatic if we could get that from the Clippers for Horford. We could solve our problem of essentially having two starting power forwards while gaining what will likely be great talent in next years draft. Kaman is no slouch at all, I think he's decent defensively and having him + a top pick next year would make us being a contender eventually more likely.

I totally agree with you that Horford is better than Kaman. Though, if you only look at Kaman's stats this year, you won't get the full picture from him. Last year, he averaged 18 & 10. The difference in talent is probably not worth a top 5-7 pick but IMO the Clippers would have to overpay to convince the Hawks to deal Horford.

Actually no. Millers' 2011-12 season is unguaranteed so he can be regarded as an ending contract.

Portland would do it to get younger. Miller is being shopped because he's 34. Our contender aspirations went down the drain with both Roy and Oden being hobbled and hence the supporting veteran cast of Miller, Camby and Przybilla are all available.

I imagine the Crawford interest was for something like Przybilla and Fernandez. Don't see that happening now.

lol, you say dont look at this years stats, but look at last years to get his full picture. How about looking at ALL the years of Kaman's stats? career 11 ppg player, had a career year last year and made all star in a year where the west was weak on centers. So you say dont look at a normal year of Kaman, look at his career year. Or how about the fact that he has been injured 5 of the last 6 years?

I wasn't saying just look at last year. Look at his skillset, his trends (yes he is injury-prone, but what Clipper isn't), and the fact that he is entering his prime. I was mainly trying to say that at the beginning of the year, he was in possibly the worst funk of his career. Then he got hurt. There is no reason why the Clippers should trade him now when his value is so low. Instead let him come back and play and show everyone what kind of player he really is.

actually you were. You said, dont look at this year, look at last year. Well, why not look at the year before last year, or before that. Last year was an anomaly for Kaman. He isnt as good as the stats he put up last year. He also has no defensive presence. Horford plays center better out of position than Kaman does. Draft picks may turn out right (James) or not (Darko), why risk it with what is identified as one of if not the heart of the team?

Right now would be the perfect time for Sund to pursue a trade with Dallas if he feels it's for the greater good of the team to move Joe Johnson's salary off the books. Dallas is at a low point with the injuries and the reality is the team most likely won't get out of the first or second round of the playoffs. I felt this way even before the injuries.

The reason for Atlanta is so they can keep Jamal Crawford and move Joe Johnson's max contract.

Atlanta Gets:
Caron Butler (IR Expiring)
DeShawn Stevenson
Rodrigue Beaubois

Dallas Gets:
Joe Johnson

http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/

Dallas thinks highly of Roddy B, so they won't add a first round pick, and Cuban turned down a lottery pick last year for him. The lottery pick was most likely Indiana's.

Maybe Cuban would get that desperate
but expirers + little Roddy just seems like too much to give up to take back a contract like Joe's and I'm not one of the Mavs' guys running around saying he's already the 2nd best player like some of them are haha
$25 mil for a 35 year old Johnson is just insane.

I could see expirers + possible 1st rounder for him
or maybe a Haywood + expirer(s) + 1st rounder for Johnson swap would make some sense for both sides.
