Moves the Bobcats should make
The Bobcats are not in a good financial situation and they are not really a young team with a lot of potential for the future. Here are some moves that I would make if I was in charge:
1st - deal Nazr Mohammed, Matt Carroll and Sherron Collins to the Grizzlies for OJ Mayo and Hasheem Thabeet. Mayo and Thabeet have both fallen out of favor in Memphis. The Grizzlies are looking for players who can come off the bench and expiring deals. Mohammed has about 7 mill that will come off the books and he's a serviceable big man to back up Gasol. Carroll is a proven 3 point threat off the bench (something the Grizzlies need) and Collins is a back up point, which is something that the Grizzlies do not have right now.
2nd - deal Stephen Jackson to Dallas for Caron Butler (expiring deal, he will never play for Charlotte) and a 1st round pick. I'd like to get Dominique Jones as well, but I'm not sure if Dallas will part with him. This move clears cap space and it's out with the old, in with the new.
3rd - deal Gerald Wallace and Dasagana Diop to the Clippers for Chris Kaman and Al-Farouq Aminu. (it's possible LAC won't do this with Diop, so we might have to keep him and include Dominic McGuire to even the salaries). The Clippers are looking to deal Kaman for a SF and Wallace would be a great fit. Kaman makes a little bit more than Wallace and he's not nearly as good, but he would be a serviceable center (and good mentor for Thabeet). As much as I hate to see the heart and soul of the Bobcats go, Aminu's potential makes this deal worth it.
After these moves, the Bobcats roster for 2011 - 2012 would be. (ages in parenthesis).
C - Kaman (28) Thabeet (23) Diop (28)
PF - Diaw (28) Ty Thomas (23) Najera (34)
SF - Aminu (20) Henderson (23)
SG - Mayo (23) Jones (22)
PG - Augustin (23) Livingston (25)
I'd take the rest of the year to develop the young guys and the chemistry between Thabeet, Thomas, Aminu, Mayo, Augustin, Henderson, Jones and Livingston. This is a young team that could grow together and really compliment each other. Also, they would have 2 first round picks in the draft, so they'd have 2 rookies.
What do you guys think?

In response:
1. Yes
2. Yes.
3. Yes
which means than none of the other three teams would say also yes.
(And I think you mean Kwame would be our back up C, because you have Gana going to the Clippers)

Co-sign. None of these deals will go down

I don't ike any of the trades on their own, and when combined they're even worse. Wallace for Aminu and Kaman isn't that bad though.

Re: Moves the Bobcats should make
1st deal - Memphis is actively trying to dump Mayo and Thabeet. They owe them 11 million over the next 2 years and don't think they're worth it (they view Mayo as a distraction). They said they want expiring deals (Mohammed), bench players (Carroll), and a back up PG (collins). I think Memphis would do this deal. I'd be willing to throw in a future first rounder if we needed to too. I'd also be willing to offer Livingston and McGuire over Carroll and Collins if necessary.
2nd deal - This probably will happen. Charlotte sheds salary, Dallas gets a player they desperately need. I know Dallas would jump at this.
3rd deal - I'd hate to see Wallace go, but getting Aminu makes it okay. LAC already said they want a SF for Kaman - who better than Wallace? We'd have to convince them to move Aminu too, but if they're looking for a SF (which Aminu is too) he's obviously not untouchable.
And Kwame is off the books after this year, so I didn't mean him. I put Diop there, because I don't think the Clippers would really take on his salary. But, it would be nice if they did.

Re: Moves the Bobcats should make
Kwame is worth every penny of his pay. But those deals aren't really workable aside from the Wallace to Clipps deal. The others aren't weighted fairly. What we would be giving to Dallas is a shot at a championship. We might as well just give Jackson away to a team with cap space for that deal. And Memphis can find much better deals for mayo than that if they even want to trade him.

Re: Moves the Bobcats should make
We are giving Jackson away, but he's 33 and he's making too much. Time to move on. We aren't winning a title with him, might as well dump the salary and pick up a 1st rounder in the process.
I agree, on paper you don't think Memphis would take that deal. But, I think they are so low on Thabeet and Mayo, they'd be happy to get 3 guys who can contribute off the bench and who are cheap and have about 7 mill expiring at the end of the season.
I think these moves would give this franchise some hope for the future and I think they are reasonable deals that could actually happen. All 3 teams involved have expressed interest in making trades for those players involved. It's not far fetched at all, in my opinion

He's 32 and performing at his contract's value. He might not next year but next year he'll be more tradeable anyway. We lose overall with this plan, because we could get more back for him next year or even just resign him on the cheap and keep the team looking contiguous.
And if the other trades happen so be it, I just don't think they will.

Re: Moves the Bobcats should make
I fail to see why people keep wanting to blow this team up.
So what if the team gets a lot of cap space. Historically free agent’s haven’t really wanted to come to Charlotte. Best case is that we get good mid-tier guys that way.
So that leaves the draft. So the team gets to suck for a few years while missing out on the top pick each year (the worst teams rarely get it). And it’s not like our front office has EVER had drafting as one of their strong points. Realistically this team could be bad for a decade or more if they blow things up and try to build via the draft.
The front office’s real strength is making trades for established guys. If they made all those trades it would be next to impossible for them to play to that strength.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I think MJ and the FO really believed that Larry would get this team into a contender status, and made some deals that were stupid based on his input. Yes, some played out very well (Jax in particular) but most deals raised our expense without gaining sufficient productivity. Now we've got young players that are finally seeing some development (thanks to Silas) but still burdened by some expensive contracts (relative to our competitive position). Bottom line is this: MJ is not willing to pay large $ for a team that can not realistically compete for a championship (conference or world). If he cannot see the promise of that in this team, he'll deal vets and big contracts for picks and cap space.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Jax is killing us at times, and Crash has completely lost his game. Get what you can and shed the contracts.

Trade Jack/Wallace ASAP. They can not operate on the floor together....killing me here.

Trading Crash makes more sense. By the time we'd be a good team, Jax will be gone but Crash could be here making 12 million a year.

Charlotte trades Gerald Wallace and Nazr Mohammed to L.A. Clippers and Matt Carroll to Toronto, L.A. Clippers trade Chris Kaman to Charlotte and Al-Farouq Aminu to Toronto, and Toronto trades LeAndro Barbosa to Charlotte and future 2nd rd pick to Clippers. Is that a good trade for us?
C: Chris Kaman, Kwame Brown
PF: Boris Diaw, Tyrus Thomas, Eduardo Najera
SF: Stephen Jackson, Derrick Brown, Dominic McGuire
SG: Leandro Barbosa, Gerald Henderson

So it's:
Char out: Crash - Nazzy - Hammer
Char in: Kaman - Barbosa
LA out: Kaman - AFA
LA in: Crash - Nazzy - TO 2nd round pick
TO out: Barbosa - 2nd round pick
TO in: AFA
I'd obviously rather Gana in the trade than Nazzy and I'd rather start Hendo at the 2 spot for us and use Barbosa as our scoring 6th man.

I see what your saying. But I'd think Clippers would rather get Nazzy cause he is not out for year and is an expiring.
