To watch Barnes is to cry that we have to have a high pick in this draft. Man he sucks, I'm not sure he'd be a top 20 pick in this draft.

I don't know how a prospect supposedly this good can stink out the joint so badly.

He is just very very raw, but yea if drafted he would be a long term project. Much more of a project than Demar. I prefer T Jones, hes looking really good so far.

I wouldn't say that, DeMar was one helluva project pick and he still is a project. Once defenses adjust we'll have to see what he does without a jumper (at this point). Barnes is closer to the finished product but it's a confidence thing. I don't know if we need another weak mentality guy though, we gotta start drafting killers on the court.

Jared Sullinger and Ohio State will be taking on Illinois on Saturday at 12:00 Eastern on CBS.

Kemba Walker and UCONN are up next at 2:00 PM versus Tennessee.

To cap off a great day of basketball Texas takes on Josh Selby, Marcus Morris and Kansas at 4:00 PM.

Derozan was very average and underwhelming in his college career up until about this point. IIRC, it was only around mid conference that Derozan started to "get it" and it culminated wth his Pac-10 tournament MVP status.

However, the slow start effectively knocked him down in the draft.

Not sure if Barnes will pick it up alot in the back half of the year.

John Henson is shooting 33% from the FT line entering today (20-60). How is that even possible?

UNC has a couple players who have really had their stock do down once entering UNC.

Demar did pick it up later on in the season at USC. He shot 52% and averaged 14ppg. Barnes still has time to pickup his season, but his FG is pretty bad at 38%, and does not look as aggressive. Right now to me Barnes looks like more of a project, unless he changes something soon.

Yea but you're judging DeMar on a full season versus Barnes who only played part of the season. So, to sum it up, neither of us can judge Barnes' success or failure until the season is over.

I'm still a barnes optimist he showed occasional flashes even in this game right now, yeah he forces alot of shots too often. But I'm sure whoever drafts barnes will have him learn how to run through screens and picks and learn all variety of moves and other stuff. Right now UNC runs ****, A-LA LARRY DREW SUCKS!!!!!!! I wonder what it'd be like if PJ or TJ were to play for the UNC.

The Roy Williams Coaching Model

1. Recruit more high school All Americans then other teams.
2. Let Kids do whatever the hell they want and figure it out themselves.

That's just the thing. From what I've seen, there are guys in this draft with a bit less natural talent but a lot more heart/fight. Barnes has to come on quick or he'll have no choice but to go back for another year.

Yah and over-hype these high schoolers the way Cavs did when LeBron came to town. I still don't get his coaching strategy, if Marshall gets Drew's minutes of playing time I'm pretty sure everyone on the floor would get more touches and would play more team effort. I swear Roy Williams is pissing alot of fans now.

You see the championship flags that were hanging up in the arena, I want to see his dead body hung up right next to those flags.

If Barnes has the heart of Kemba Walker lol ...if Barnes stays another year and plays the same I'm sure he'll be at the bottom end of the draft lottery, guys like River, Gilchrist, Davis, Miller and whoever sophomores that shine next year could all pretty well be drafted before Barnes.

Agreed. I'm not high on Barnes but I was just saying if we pick in the 6-10 range I don't know if you'll be able to get a guy who has the potential of Barnes, but of course it's extremely high risk, extremely high reward.

Barnes will end up being like Ed Davis. Projected top pick the year before, see draft stock slide, and make the team that he lands to VERY happy.

Chris Singleton is an interesting prospect, if you're looking for a SF in this draft. Reportedly, he's a very capable defender, who can guard multiple positions. He's averaging 8 rpg. as well.

I think he could be a steal if he's still around in the 20s.

Speaking of steals, whoever picks Jimmer Fredette is going to get a player. Fredette is incredibly underrated as a pro prospect. I guess people will have to tune in during the NCAA tourney to see his offensive prowess. He's one of those players, that with a good tourney, will elevate his stock. I hear people talking about him being a fringe first-rounder - there's nothing fringe about it, he should be a lock for the 1st rd...and I think he should go in the top 20 definitely.

I have no basis for this but I feel like I'd rather have the guy that was initially supposed to be real good and fell in the draft than a guy who made a late surge and rocketed up draft charts. I just feel like the guys that fall usually turn out better.

I'd like to hear what facts you have to back that up.

I think that can be true when injuries are a factor, but not when the guy just fails to perform. The best thing I can say about Barnes is that North Carolina's guard play is pathetic.

Fredette went off last tourney as well, but his stock remained the same because they were knocking him for athleticism.

He can ball though, he's one of those classic New York guard who can fill it up offensively, but not capable of running a team.
