here's the deal one more time:

Nets would receive Anthony, Chauncey Billups(notes), Shelden Williams(notes) and Anthony Carter(notes) from the Nuggets. The Nets would send Denver two first-round picks, rookie forward Derrick Favors(notes), Devin Harris(notes), Anthony Morrow(notes), Stephen Graham(notes), Ben Uzoh(notes) and Quinton Ross(notes). The Nets also would receive Richard Hamilton(notes) and DaJuan Summers(notes) from the Pistons for Troy Murphy(notes), Johan Petro(notes) and a possible second-round pick.

If that is true would Rip still be complaining about his DNP and would Tay be oblivious to that reason and call Kuester a bafoon? (We know he is one but Tay was responding to Rip not playing).

Yes? Blaha and Kelser basically said that Rip wasn't going to play last night (BEFORE THE GAME) and that everyone knew... and Rip still said after the game that he wants to play and doesn't feel like he should be on the bench. And that he talked to his agent about lack of playing time.

It would be perfect if we could get Murphy + Petro + 2nd rounder... and then flip Murphy + that 2nd rounder to a contending team (like Dallas) for a late first rounder + expirings(caron butler?).

That'd be just like getting a first for Rip, which almost none of us would have thought would have been probable.

Not sure Dumars would do that. Sometimes its better to have early 2nd rounders vs late 1st rounders. Mostly for the unguaranteed contracts for the 2nd rounders....and talent level may be about the same. Many teams would rather have early 2nd as opposed to late 1st. I guess it would come down to how deep a draft Dumars thinks it might be.

So Orlando, Dallas, &San Antonio is interested in Murphy.

What do any of these teams have that we could possibly want for 13 million?

Can you trade straight picks & trade exceptions for that much salary?

Pete, once the trade goes down I'd be willing to bet that NJ is a playoff team... which means there second rounder would be about #46-#48 range. Dallas is picking in the 24-26 range... You're looking at getting something there... whereas a pick in the late 40's might never put on a Pistons uniform. If Dumars passes on upgrading both that pick and the player(Butler is a better player if healthy) then he's probably lost it IMO.

Also, Butler is still a solid player... he's just out for the year. Having his bird rights could be worth something... either in a sign and trade or to keep as a Piston if Prince decides to leave.

Watchin the Sunday night game on ESPN....

Lisa Salters just said Denver GM told her, "nothing is imminent." Of course the translation of "imminent" could be within 24 hours, or within a month. Who knows?

If Melo doesn't want to sign with the Nets why string this out... none of this "Uh I haven't thought about that"... or If "Chauncey is with me we increase our chances" but "I want to have the best chance of a championship, money don't matter"... dude just come and say you're not interested in the Nets and quit F'n waffling

^^^ David Aldridge is now reporting that Denver has granted Jersey permission to speak directly to Melo. So if true, evidently a trade proposal has been agreed to by all teams. So we may be getting an outcome on this soon.

We should be talking to the Knicks saying that we'd be interested in taking Curry+ for Rip.

They don't have salaries to match Melo without Curry and Rip would look disgusting in D'Antoni's system.

Assuming the trade goes through, what are the rules on flipping Murphy? Didn't they get tighter after the Sheed trade?

Let's hope Joe has a plan B... Melo says he's playing the next three games for the Nugs... he's obviously not on board with any deals.

Not exactly. NYKs have a better roster, better location (even with Brooklyn move), the statement on ownership is neutral (NY spends), Amar'e >>> Lopez, MSG >new nets stadium. Not sure how big of a deal Jay-Z is going to be, quite possibly not much of one at all.

If this trade falls through, which is looking likely because I dont think Melo is tryna mess with Jersey at all, I'd look into this if I was Joe D. I know previously he said he didnt want to just dump Rip for expiring, but it looks like that has changed after all of this..

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=49vqsak

It isn't like the Bucks are ever gonna attract huge names in FA so they should try to improve through trades..This gives them another solid 2, and can put Salmons on the bench where he belongs.. They clear the jam they got at the 3 position.. Pistons gain the cap relief they seeked with the NJ talks..

If they pulled this off and wanted to go into full tank/rebuild mode, I'd get creative & try to also throw this out there..

Indiana is a similar situation to the Bucks where they aren't going to attract alot of big names, and they really need a better 4 than Josh McRoberts..The Pistons gain more cap space & then can really look forward to being an impact player in this years FA, along with having a high draft pick cause this team would suck....Forgot to mention that I know alot of yall high on Daye, but I think hes expandable if we were able to get Luc from the Bucks..
