FA is the minor league system of the Yankees.

you can guys bash anyone with an opposing opinion but you have to realize this signing is so horrendous your own GM wanted to have nothing to do with this.

Look, I understand as a Blue Jays fan, you've watched your team get raped repeatedly. And your 3B & SS were played when A-Rod screamed, "GOT IT!"

But venom aside...

Horrendous? Guy, Carl Pavano was horrendous...Kevin Brown was horrendous...Jeff Weaver was horrendous...Javier Vasquez x2 was horrendous. Again, how was this move horrendous compared to those moves?

Why cause we gave up the 30th pick to a division rival? Really? Seriously? I know the Red Sox have 4 picks in this draft but how was just one @30th going to balance that out?

Don't Yankees have a decent "sandwich pick" from Vasquez being signed? Not saying giving up picks is good idea, but doesn't that make up for it a bit?

To be quite honest, we won't know what this signing means (horrendous to wonderful) until the guy actually pitches here. As of now, he's not pitched a single pitch as a Yankee so let's not just the gun and hope for the worst (though obviously the worst is what you're hoping for).

As far as the good or bad of losing the pick? This bit of new may or may not help the Yankees...

http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... aft_picks/

There is growing sentiment to allow baseball teams to trade draft picks, write Bill Madden of the New York Daily News.

Could result in the Yankees "jettisoning" picks in trades for established players. But could also involve the Yankees essentially buying picks (imagine top guys under Boras that are potentially looking for mindblowing contracts).

cash was against the move b/c of the pick

my take? give Cash a blank check on the international FA market to score a player or 2, even if that player has a risk attached
