Posey refuses to shake Griffin's hand

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:02 am

We all knew Posey had a classless side to him before he even came and he's shown why in several games, but, this is pretty sad for an athlete who just got owned like a child....

Posey on not shaking Griff's hands, "He tried 2, I declined. He already gave us 40 and I’m going to shake his hand and thank him. I'm good"

Gracious in victory, and gracious in defeat. Posey should've shaken his hand. However, I do take some pride that he was angry for allowing Griffin to score that many points.

I would've liked to see some fire during the game, not a flagrant foul but something to show that we just won't get pushed around. Just classless.

How is he dirty? He is just better than Posey, Posey isnt a PF so why is he guarding someone like Blake?

Those fouls called on Posey weren't fouls. He had every right to be mad. Griffin didn't help. Also Posey is a PF. He should be on Blake.

Posey sucks though! He is also 30 pounds lighter than Blake. Truth is, we have no one capable of guarding legit PF's in this league

We don't have anyone capable. That is true. Posey also probably can't guard most SF's. He's a PF at this point.

I probably wouldnt either.. The guy is a flopper even on the smallest of things. Just about all of the fouls he got yesterday were bogus.

He goes around a screen and throws his head back like he got punched. He gets boxed out and he dives to the floor. But he doesnt have a problem running up the other guys backs and when he does get called for a foul he has that arrogant smirk of " AS IF ".

The refs need to stop babying him. If the refs actually treated him like every other player he would barely be averaging 15 a game. Still respectable but not " amazing ".

Griffin is actually pretty good. And also, Posey and Foster were too old and slow to keep up with him regardless of how appropriate they are for guarding PF's (which in Posey's case is not at all. He can't guard much anything anymore).

He's probably a stretch four at this point in his career.

Yeah, Posey and Foster just don't have the athleticism anymore to hang with someone like Blake Griffin. Not many do....however, they are definitely in this bunch.

I feel like this applies to the topic, i just read it today, by Yahoo's Marc Spears. It's about how Griffin's domination has grown weary around the league.... this piece doesn't mention James Posey, but i think with the way Posey played yesterday against him and the whole handshake incident.

Griffin was simply unconscious yesterday. I mean, he hit everything. He airballed his first jumper I think, but after that I don't think he missed. He hit banks like Tim Duncan. He crossed Jeff Foster like Allen Iverson. People have days where everything is clicking. Unfortunately for us, Griffin had one of those nights last night. **** happens.

Now, putting Posey on him without sending help certainly compounded the problem. I wanted to see more of Hansbrough on him. He's the only one who can match his aggression and physicality. However, O'Brien obviously tried to match Griff's offensive output with some Posey threes. Not to mention, Hansbrough had a chance of getting him in foul trouble. Posey can't do that 25 feet from the basket.

Posey also can't hit threes. He's shooting at a sad clip. His efficiency is terrible. I might be the biggest Posey hater here. I know what he can do, I just don't think it should be at the PF spot. I think it hurts him and our team.

That is very true, in fact, i just read today on TrueHoops, that Griffin's game was like the 17th best performance in the past 20 years, if you consider most points scored/least shots taken.... http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... riffin-did
