Carmelo is finally taking control of his own destiny:Says He Doesn't Want to Talk to Nets
"I don't want to talk to nobody,'' Anthony said after his team's 110-97 loss at San Antonio on Sunday night. "I let the front office handle that type of stuff. It ain't my job to be talking to New Jersey, New York, the Lakers, Dallas, no one. That's not my job to do.''

"What am I going to meet with (Nets majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov) for?'' Anthony said.

"I still won't step into something like that,'' Anthony said after the San Antonio game of talking with the Nets even if it had been cleared by the Nuggets. "I've seen a lot of people go through that and for me to sit here and say that I want to talk to them or Masai (Ujiri, Denver's executive vice president of basketball operations) and Josh (Kroenke, Denver's president) gave them permission to talk to me, I think that's false. If that was the case, then I'm pretty sure I would've gotten a phone call from Masai or Josh about that.''

"I'm going to play Wednesday against Oklahoma City and then against the Lakers (on Friday). Then Indiana (next Sunday),'' he said.

Lol.

I was gonna say, Corona laid a meatball out there and the best that could be done with it was a non-RBI single?

Haha I suck.

Apparently Stephen A Smith is saying Nets are in front and he's one of the only analysts whose predictions I put any stock in so I'm getting a little nervous.

I don't get why people are making fun of the Nets for having to convince Melo to sign an extension with them. Didn't Chicago, Miami, Cleveland, New York and others have to try and convince FA's to sign with them? I mean this pretty much is FA for Melo since he wants an extension.

This is what I was saying in the other thread, but I still agree with the rest of the article.

The Nets have been taken out to the woodshed and this is not a basketball move, it's a marketing ploy.

I agree to a point. I just think it's getting overblown because of what happened this summer. They were saying the same things for LeBron when the thought of him going to the Nets came up. As everyone said it's just dragged on too long. I'm sure if Denver had interest in what New York was offering it would be almost the same way. We heard the STAT text rumors. New Jersey has to do this because they don't have the STAT or Wade to help convince them. That's what they want to have Melo for, so he can be the recruiter.

Carmelo Anthony says he'd never leave the way LeBron James did
While his situation may be "complicated," he won't leave Denver the way a certain big man left Cleveland.

"I would never go about it the way LeBron [James] did it," Anthony said in a Sports Illustrated interview. "If he could do it all over again, he wouldn't do it that way -- he would do it a totally different way, I can guarantee you that."

Anthony, drafted by the Nuggets in 2003, said he was surprised by reaction of Denver fans to a possible trade to a New York/New Jersey team.

"People throw away that whole 7 1/2 years, and that's what makes me laugh because I'm like, me? Out of all the people, you're booing me? Out of all the people."

Reason why Melo needs to sign extension:

Anthony said the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations between the league and its players have created a sense of urgency for him. "I've been sitting in meetings with the owners and seeing what is their problem with everything," he said. "I've been in several of the meetings to know what the problem is and what's going on. It's going to take some time to get the owners and the players on the same page."

Is there going to be a lockout?

"Oh, without a doubt," he said. "Without a doubt."

So that's another reason to sign the extension now, I said.

"Exactly."

You could wait until the summer, I went on, but there is no telling which teams may have cap space or what the rules of the next CBA will allow you to do as a free agent.

"Everything you say right now, I lie on the table and try to break down every situation, every scenario," he said. "Everything you're saying, I've already [put] thought into it. You don't know what the future's going to bring. That's how I have to look at it, because I don't really know what's going to happen in the future."

Uncertainty.

So according to the main page story, Melo has pretty much screwed the Nuggets if hes only going to sign with the Knicks. They have no leverage at all
