Is Kobe still the best player in the game to you guys?
He is to me, but that is because I have a heavy value for post season dominance. The NBA season is a marathon not a sprint, and Kobe has been taking it nice and easy this season. I like that, and last season should have proved that you should never doubt Kobe.
He is still the best player in the NBA to me...

If your starting a NBA team today Kobe might not be your first pick.
Nonetheless,
He'll definitely still be your first pick to take the Last Shot with the game on the line.

Exactly, Kali. There's still no one else in the league who cares more about winning, and there's no player in the league who I'd trust more with the ball with the game on the line.

I am not talking about the game on the line, I am talking about...if you wanted to win a title now, who would you go with. Title. Not one game or any of that crap. If you want to win a title for one year.

For one season and playoffs, I'll take Kobe any day of the week.
To start a franchise for the next 5-10 years, I'll take someone else.

1996-2010 NBA drafts two players stand out that have 5 championships and they are...KOBE BRYANT (1996) AND DEREK FISHER (1996). Until they are dethroned nobody is better than these two. So to answer your question yes Kobe Bryant is still the best player in the game.

Call me stupid but if your going to give me the option of which superstar to have on my team during the post season it would be Kobe.

Lebron is the toughest guard until the fourth quarter when he loses focus, that's when Kobe is the best. Hard to say I'll go off the board and take Russ West, fastest man in the NBA

I don't think Kobe is the best player in the league anymore. He's slowed considerably and you can tell with the way he finishes in the paint. He misses layups that would have been easy makes before.
Still, there's a part of me that would hate to go up against Kobe in the playoffs.

Its kind of weird, cause I could admit that Lebron "better" than him in the sense of msot realgm comparisons and so is wade probably, but I wouldn't trade Kobe for Lebron or wade or anyone else for one season. Obviously a long term trade and I'd be stupid not to do Kobe for all those younger guys.

He isn't anymore, only because of age, but I can't come to terms with myself in naming the guy(s) I'd say are better than him.
LBJ? Eh. All that talent and youth, but too much of a pussy to lead a team. Lacks the cojones of an alpha dog. 25 years of age and already ring chasing? Makes me want to vomit.
Wade, yeah. I think he's at the right stage of his career where durability, experience, and skill intertwine perfectly. More importantly, besides his talent, he's a leader both in regular season and post season and he's proven that. I think that's what the best player in today's game should represent.

Not defending LJ..But he played out his contract and never demanded to be traded like how Melo is doing right now and how Kobe did before. Cleveland had 7 years to build a team around him and they failed to do that. So I do not understand when somebody says Lebron is ring chasing when he left as a free agent? whatever..
Kobe is still a top 5 player in the NBA. That's still pretty good if you tell me. So it is what it is. He had his time and he is aging pretty good.

Re: Is Kobe still the best player in the game to you guys?
Yeah, you are defending LeBron.
How do you think ring chasers like Payton and Malone signed with the Lakers and/or Heat? Free agency maybe?
As far as failing to build around LeBron, that is LeBron's own fault. If he needs a team of superstars around him to succeed then what does that say about the type of player he really is? He had plenty of talent his last two years with the Cavs and he still failed to get it done. You can't fault the Cavs all that much because they put plenty of talent around him, and had he not forced their hand (Jamison, Shaq) they would have been able to load up on talent this year with LeBron helping out in the recruiting department (ala Wade), which is something he never really did for the organization.
Anyway, regarding the question, I'd say it's too early to say but if pressed to answer I'd probably go with LeBron. The playoffs are what matter most so we'll have to wait and see who brings it this year. Last year Kobe and Wade brought it, so I'd be inclined to say it's between those two. Like Optms said, Wade is at that point in his career where it's all adding up, and the only thing stopping Kobe is age/mileage which he can overcome when it matters most.
