Probably the biggest reason I have reservations is because of Bender.

Even with that little nitpick, let's use that pick on a guy that I feel better about, Chris Singleton (trade down). He's much more defined as a player, not a steaming mess of potential, fills the Jeff Green mold of player, and can play two forward spots, instead of getting pushed around by 1-5.

Good call on the correction.

Are you saying Chris Singleton > Anthony Randolph?

Because, that is my point exactly as to why it may not even hurt us to make that trade. I don't see much value in a guy like Singleton, Trey Thompkins or Kyle Singler. Although I do like Derrick Williams, but his size makes me wonder if he will be able to score at the same level as he does in college. But, still, wouldn't Randolph be worth the risk over any of those guys?

Of course.

Randolph can't get numbers if he does not get on the floor, does not get the ball. He already showed an ability to get 15 + points, 10+ rebounds and a handfull of blocks. Hibbert,TH and Randolph would be a VERY dynamic trio. You still have McBob and Solomon Jones or Foster. Hell, try and weasel a rd 2 from the Knicks, some pay off as depth, some as future trade chips.

I recall Bender had chronic bad knees and really only had a few semi impressive games when briefly healthy.

No....he needs to not be getting the quick hook every few minutes, needs to not get conflicting "advice" needs to get EXPERIENCE. The real PRICE is that someone has to commit to playing him enough that his game evolves rather than rusts.

Nellie decided to use him as a C,he said,to give him a less complicated role...and cause Nellie didn't WANT a PF...he wanted 3 guards. So...with a whole 2 games as an NBA C...AR matches up vs Dwight Howard. When the dust settled, AR has 13 reb, career high 28 pt,some blocks. Dwight is below his avg in both scoring and rebounds. Well......pretty soon Nellie has AR back on the bench. Last time the Knicks played Orlando, AR was a DNP.......and Dwight dominated. coaches don't always see things that seem pretty obvious.

Notre Dame 's coach was reluctant to see Joe Montana as his best QB. Joe,however pulled out wins after the starter failed...and then had to start...and he seemed to DO winning....but then was available Rd 3....and Bill Walsh was no fool. I was AMAZED every other team passed on Montana TWICE...as if blind.

Yeah, seriously, there's a reason that Golden State fans were in love with this guy and had such high hopes for him. If we can nurture that reason and bring it out in Randolph, it could be the best 1st round draft pick we ever traded.

So, there was an incident where he broke down crying during a Warriors game and needed to be consoled by an assistant? I'd be bothered if I saw this during a high school game. Successful teams are build around mentally tough players. It sounds like mentally this guy has an enormous distance to travel before you could ever count on him. I don't think professional franchises have time to work through these kind of issues.

We need to somehow acquire a late first from somebody, then try to acquire AR. Or we could draft JuJuan Johnson.

I don't want to give away a mid-first when the potential to draft another Rush, Hibbert, Granger is viable. My darkhorse for us in the upcoming draft is Jordan Williams, he is 6'10"/260lbs, from Maryland.

When JB actually got playing time he packed a lot of production into his minutes. The things he could do were breathtaking, he was suppose to be the first of his kind. With 26' range, unlimited hops, good ballhandling on a 7' frame, he was unique. AR looks a lot like JB, minus the great jumper and probably ball-handling ability because JB handled it like a guard.

He was one of my favorite prospects coming out of the draft. He's tall and skilled, reminded me of a Bosh or Aldridge type. He's never going to be a banger, but I think he has a pretty unique skill-set. Looks like he has also gotten bigger, but he still has a ways to go.

As we are likely going to be picking in the mid-late teens, it might not be too bad trading our first round pick for a guy who probably has lottery upside.

I'd like to point something out. Rather than assume that Randolph hasn't gotten the minutes with his first two teams because of lack of ability, or some "mystery reason", lets at least look at the systems he played in:

1. Golden State under Don Nelson - Really? the fact Nelson's name is there should be enough. No one could figure out his rotation, least of all his players, so I can't say I would blame Randolph for being upset there.

2. New York under D'antoni - First take into account D'antoni's style (especially in regard to the 3 ball) then consider that Amare plays PF, Wilson has really stepped it up this year, and there is no way he is gonna play him at Center, and what are you left with? Answer: a very talented, very disgruntled 3rd string PF who doesn't shoot the 3, and is probably deep in D'antoni's dog house.

I have no doubt that he is immature, and needs a great deal of experience, but based on raw talent, how athletic he is, and the fact I'm really sick of drafting in the 12-20 range in the draft, I would do this deal in a heartbeat, but thats just me.

better off keeping the pick

just my take.

Is this a poem? I'm confused.

Randolph would probably play well for you guys. The coach just has to commit on playing him through the mistakes. Right now , I don't know what's his position...not really a SF not really a PF and definitely not a center eventhough he played well against Dwight.
Not sure if Obrien is the right coach for him since his style of play looks kind of similar to D'Antoni's/ Nellies.

Randolph to Indiana dead?

they would have to add a player. my man @alanhahn at newsday says knicks only want a draft pick. that eliminates indy

Bird has always liked Randolph, but Pacers are looking to add veteran rotation players. They’ve already got enough youth on their roster.

“Donnie Walsh has shot rumor down … He said Pacers have not proposed any offers to him for Randolph.”

Mike Wells is on the Fan right now, and he's saying Pacers are looking for trades but they want veterans who will HELP NOW.
