Well, with 3 20 ppg scorers already in our lineup plus Bobby Jones, we decided we didn't need a 30 point scorer who would take the ball out of the hands of Gilmore, Paul, and Moncrief, we needed a guy who was a great finisher, great defender, and great rebounder . . . oh, and a 3 point threat. Who can fill up a boxscore like no one else,

I'll take Michael Cooper

85-86 / 86-87

All-NBA First Team Defense, NBA Champion, Defensive Player of the year

Needed a defensive player that can knock down open shots/three point shots, Cooper is a plus due to his excellent ball-handling skills and ability to be a play-maker.

Is this a reach? I don't know.

I select Kevin Durant to round out my starting lineup. I said I wanted to create an offensive powerhouse, and Durant's game for the last two seasons has seen him become the NBA's leading scorer and an almighty efficient one. His length makes him very difficult to guard, and he'll be a nice 5th option on offense for me :)

Amare Stoudemire. Efficient scorer, monster athlete, and a solid change of pace from Horace Grant.

I select:

Image

2005-2006. NBA Champion, All Defensive 1st Team x 2.

My starting lineup is full of scorers, so I figure I might as well pick the best role players ever to make up my bench, and here's arguably the best perimeter defender of the 00's.

Gimmie J.O.

He can play the 4 and 5 effectively as well as defend enough to be relevant.

Thanks.

I needed some explosion off the bench at SG behind Cooper. I'll post the peaks later in the roster thread.

Looking for a guy to come in and stretch the floor, someone who can move without the ball and be deadly from outside, we take (the admittedly butt ugly) . . . .

I wanted a post presence that would compliment Lucas and ‘The Reign Man” is exactly that! His size and speed made him almost impossible to guard. Plus he could rebound, defend and knock up any women that got in his way. The thing that most impressed me about his resume was that he was the #2 rated Defensive player in 96 and also ranked 9th and 4th in Defensive Win Shares in the selected seasons!

I'm going with Larry Nance.

I wanted another shot blocking threat off the bench, IIRC, he's the only NON center in the top 20 of career blocked shots. He's explosive on the weakside, an All-NBA defender, versatile in that he can play multiple positions, and quite potent/efficient offensively. I like his fit in the game playing next to Cowens who will likely take backup C minutes.
