He was very good on the boards because we didn't really have anybody else to rebound. Granger grabbed 13. He was 1-8 on offense. He shouldn't be taking 8 shots. That's on him. But the rest is on JOB for leaving him out there. He couldn't guard anybody. At least try Hansbrough or McRoberts.

Warriors had 54 points in the paint to our 34. Without Roy, we don't have any kind of interior defense.

Well, one shot was a half court heave because Danny kicked a ball off his shoe, and I'm sure 2-3 of those were failed tip-ins. So, in reality, when you saw how the game was played, that's not all that bad.

McRoberts was awful tonight. I don't think Roy would've made it at the pace the game was played tonight.

That's why you set your own pace. But with O'Brien as the coach that will never happen. he likes playing to the other teams strengths. Why? I don't know. If somebody does tho, let me know.

Problem is, with Roy out, the Pacers are probably about just as good at playing at that pace because they don't really have an interior game. You could make the case that we were even better when we went small tonight.

Funny you say this because JOB often rolls with whoever is playing well that game. I just don't understand his tactics at all

I thought Indy looked very well coached, and played very hard. The improvement in defense was clear to me, and this was on a night where you didn't have Hibbert. I think O'Brien has the team headed in the right direction.

He didn't do a god-awful job yesterday. He gave Price a chance, which was very nice, I thought. He also doesn't suck in the offseason. He is just terrible in making certain game decisions and is weird about his rotations.

I can't wait for a new coach.

Yeah, I judge coaches differently from most. I look for the things in a team that would have come from training camp and practices. Others are more concerned with substitution patterns. In my experience every board on realgm rakes their coach over the coals on substitutions. Popovich, Sloan, you name it. Every home fan is sure they can do better.

I try not to pay attention to that stuff because I think it's inevitable that fans will see it as a problem. (On the Warriors game thread, half of the coaching criticism is about not resting Monta enough, and the other half is about why is he playing our crappy bench any minutes. Pretty funny, eh?)

Indy is playing much better defense than before, with largely the same cast. JOB should get credit there. They also capitalized really well on defensive miscues by GS. Our starters struggled the first three quarters to set up their half court defense. There were several times where two Warriors both seemed to think they were guarding the same player. Indy found the open man pretty reliably. And Indy is hustling. For most of the game they were outworking the Warriors. To me, all of that is a coaching success.
