I am sure someone in the NBA likes Gallo more than Denver likes him.In a 3 way trade, we could deal Gallo to another team and get another asset back,

What do you guys think?

Who could we get that Denver wants? Any shot at Monta Ellis, would they want him? Batum in the deal?

Wish someone would answer :D :D

Don't think Bulls could make a good offer though or at least one that would blow Denver away. They don't want to trade Noah which I don't blame them for. You can't expect to beat teams like MIA or BOS with no Noah. Guys like Taj Gibson and Deng ain't gonna get it done either.

He's clearly using the Bulls in order to get other teams to step up.

Since Bulls are a major market team, they are "useable"

It should be obvious that Bulls cannot put together an attractive offer without Noah. I am 99% convinced that they will not trade Noah.

Fun Fact: Wes is the agent for the new Bulls Coach

I guarentee you guys the bulls will not get seriously involved unless Noah is involved in the trade (which they WILL NOT DO). The Nuggets are just asking around what the price of Melo is before they come to the Knicks.

Everyone here realizes that Noah essentially has a poison pill in his contract if he is traded, correct?

The conventional wisdom is if he waits until a new deal is signed, he risks a new salary ceiling and perhaps having to accept a deal at maybe up to $10 million less per season. Although no one knows yet what the new deal will be. So that’s all speculation for now, though everyone seems to believe Anthony would make less waiting it out and, say, signing with the Knicks as a free agent.

He does want it all–the Knicks and the money–sort of your black and white cookie and to eat it as well.

And if you want to go somewhere in what may be your last major deal of your career, why not go where you want to go?

I can understand that.

The Bulls, by the way, remain interested in Anthony and have been all season. They have been in contact with the Nuggets and Anthony’s representatives regularly.

They have mostly been told not to bother, though you never know
. But as we know it’s never over until it’s over.

--------------

From what I have heard from my sources who may or may not know, certainly every bit as good as theirs, is Anthony only wants to play for the Knicks

--------------

For whatever personal reason, and I do hear it’s mostly that, Anthony wants to play for the Knicks. He basically told the Nets and Nuggets that, which finally ended months of rumors which, now we know, had no real basis.

So what happens now?

The Knicks can step forward with a trade offer, though I also have heard Anthony doesn’t want to go to the Knicks if a trade involves them giving up too many good players and making it more difficult for them to compete. The Knicks have talked openly about acquiring draft picks, presumably to send on to the Nuggets in a trade. Though it won’t be easy to get good enough picks that would make a difference to the Nuggets.

Risks losing $10M per season ... LOL! I'd be thoroughly astonished to my core if Melo loses even $3M per season. $2M would be moderately shocking. $10M lol.

LeBron, Bosh, Rudy Gay = $18M per season
Melo, Paul, D-Wil = $8M per season

Yeah, the NBA would have no problem with that. Recipe for a great labor deal.

way Way WAY beyond utterly absurd.

FYI, Denver's schedule is pretty soft up to the 23rd of Feb. They only face 3 very good to elite teams up until that date. Mark that off as another reason they will officially trade him to us on the 23rd...

Yes he doesn't essentially have one, he actually and literally has a poison pill. They would have to build a trade around Deng and Gibson. Good luck with that.

The poision pill is a big deal. If the Nuggets waited until this summer though, the poision pill status is gone correct?

You don't have to make a hypothesis on when Carmelo is going to get traded when the man himself said he expects a trade around that time lol

In this case, Noah's contract is only worth 3.1 million in a deal involving him but still count his full 10.6 million against the cap.

It makes it VERY hard to trade him.

Even if I believed for a second that the Bulls were truly interested/could make the trade. They would have to be willing to give up Noah or Boozer or Deng just to make the salaries work of find a third team to take one of those guys. Not to mention, who's taking Boozer's or Deng's contract? It makes no sense. Now you're telling me Melo said he hopes it's not a rental (my on concern throughout this Melo journey)... I'm sticking to my original prediction- Knicks or bust...

LOL at Melo losing 10M per year.

Realistically, Melo is in line for, what, i think approx $18M per year

Amar'e makes $16.5 M per year in the 1st year of a contract

How much do you think MAX salaries will really be reduced?

I cant see it being much lower than say $12M per year, and who knows they might not even brign down yearly figures much, they may just prevent contract going longer than 3-4 years each and being fully guaranteed

Lets say the new CBA allows for MAX offers starting around $12M a year... Melo would stand to leave approx $4-6 Mil per season on the table. I think thats the absolute worst we would see in a new labor agreement.

And this whole argument may be moot if they successfully roll back salaries anyway

Forget specific players, the union will NEVER allow players with the same tenure to have different benefits. The whole point of having a union is so all workers/players have access to the same benefits based on years of tenure. Why is Melo going to need the union if they can't keep his benefits in line with the rest of the NBA players with his number of years of experience? Either he is grandfathered in or EVERYONE gets rolled back to the same benefits. Those are the only 2 solutions.
