Peja has lakers on his list after his buyout

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:18 pm

Just filed to ESPN.com: Raptors close to buyout of sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic. Buyout scheduled to be completed later today. Link to come

Sources close to situation say Peja hoping to go West once he clears waivers. Mavs, Lakers and Hornets are top three teams on his list.

would the lakers have any interest or need for him?

this year he's played in 8 games, 14 mpg, 48% from 3 (15 for 31).

i think the mavs who just had butler go down and the hornets where he's played for yes before getting traded to the raptors are on top of his list ahead of the lakers.

i'd probably pass on him at this point. barnes' injury is the only reason to considering him, but i don't think its enough of a reason. i still prefer walton gets any potential minutes peja would theoretically be stealing from him.

Couldn't hurt to have another 3-point shooter off the bench. He'd get a ton of open looks with our lineup. But he's fallen off pretty dramatically, so I'm not sure how many minutes he would command.

He could start on the Mavs and Hornets so I don't think there's much of a reason for him to come here and be 3rd string SF.

Lakers could bring him in for a look. He really does not play defense or rebounds. At lease Barns does that sometimes. Plus the Lakers had a 6'10 shooter that failed in Radmanovic. Is Peja really that much different. Plus he is 33-34 years old. How much is there left in him. Maybe a 10 day contract...

Thanks DIVAC, a few years too late though!!!

Hey, remember back in the day there were rumors that Peja and Kobe were playing voicemail phone tag to get Peja to the Lakers...

Maybe Peja still has Kobe's number.

We need shooting. The defense is already there. Sign him up!

as long as he isn't asking for ridiculous money i'd be all for it. Hell he'd take Luke's minutes, and anything to get Luke less PT is a good move in my book.

he'd instantly be the best shooter on the team, having him off the bench for spot minutes definitely does not hurt, provided peja actually has more interest in winning than being on a team that can provide him with more minutes.

i wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

lol @best shooter on the team.

he'd come to the lakers and promptly start dropping 1-11, 2-13 from 3pt.

CP3 was getting him open shots all the time, and he was clanking them and being an absolute sieve on defense

I think the lakers were on his list just as much as mike millers were: none, but used as leverage to get paid more by another team

We as Lakers fans should ignore things like its just a way for a player to have leverage so he can get a little more in his next contract.

If he agrees to pay Luke Walton's and his own salary? Then yes.

Mavs need him as they lost Caron for the season.
